|
|
Hi gang, i was about to buy a GPS Data Logger just so that i could later download the data and see the route i have taken on a map (Google maps for example).
However, these devices are around £70, which got me thinking is there a way to get my already installed TomTom Go 530 to do this ???, is there any kind of "add-on" to get the 530 to record this data for later download to google maps etc ??.
I fear i know the answer, but i thought i'd ask you guys as you know a lot more than i do !
Failing this, is there any car Sat Nav's which incorporates this feature ??. Just a simple recording of say every 10 seconds where the vehicle has been along with time/date/speed, so that it can be downloaded to something like Google Earth to view wherever the vehicle has been at a given time/date.
All the best,
Andrew |

I'm just reading about the Nuvi 710 (sorry, a bit off topic), but it says the Garmin Nuvi 710 has "10,000 point track log provides an electronic bread crumb trail to view and save your travel history", and i can get this unit for £69.99, but it's not clear if i can export the log file to .gpx, or if i can even access the log file at all!
Best Regards,
Andrew |

Spelling error - GPS. An app such as MotionX would offer what you need on the iPhone. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Ah right, yeah i do have a couple on my iPhone, however because it's only the 3G i cannot have multi-tasking, so it's a bit of a nuisance when i want any other program running on the phone, i just thought it would be nice to have the Sat Nav do this because it automatically starts when i get in the car anyway.
Andy_P, i cannot see that any of those files would work on the Go530, have u tried any ?

The files Andy linked to should work on the 530. No danger in trying them. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Cheers guys, that's excellent!!, i'm a little unclear as to what file i am putting on my 530, where it says "To get them working on v6.51, download this file, unzip it in the root directory of your Tomtom and re-start it." do i just click on that that 6.51 file, unzip it, connect my TomTom530 and put that file in the root directory of the TT530 and then restart the unit ??
Best Regards,

Not for a long time, but I'm pretty sure Tripmaster still works on a Go530
Quote: |
Tripmaster v3 - Tous Tomtom en v8.350 et +
- OK avec prog. compl, OK with hook prog. |
In other words, you need to use a bit of a cludge to get it on there, so follow the instructions carefully. |

It says "TomTom 530 already has a folder called sdkregistry do you want to overwrite?"........ i've backed up all my original TT530 data beforehand, is it safe to say "Yes" ?
Sorry if i appear to be thick, that's because i am.

WOW!, to my utter disbelief, it works !!!.
So, is the tripmaster software the one which will log my movements to gpx ?
Where are these gpx files found ?,
Is there a way to record gpx movements to the SD card instead of having to take the unit out of the car each day to download the track data (gpx file) ?
Best Regards,

If that folder already exists then it would suggest you have installed another hack at some point in the past.
First ensure you have a full backup of your device. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Take a look at the authors website, it is explained there. It will save to a number of formats including .kml for Google earth. _________________ Darren Griffin |
