Friend of mine has just bought a Start in lovely white, Shocked and after going through it, we noticed that there doesn't seem to be anything to alter fastest route/shortest route, set speed limit, etc, like there is on the One.

Anyone any ideas?

Also. Does the Start support the PGPS speed camera database that he's thinking of subscribing to, or is he stuck with TT's database?

The Start comes with 'EasyMenu' with significantly fewer user options than those models with a full menu structure.

The Start will always assume 'fastest' routing, no alteration. Also, no support for any 3rd party custom pois, including the PGPSW safety cameras.

All that said, there IS a way to get custom poi support AND extra user choices on that model.

Does that still work?
I know the SDK menu add-on DID work on the Start, but I thought the latest software stopped it.

That GPSPassion article was written in June 2010, but on the forums here there were posts made in July saying it no longer worked.
See HERE for more details.

Just read through the link and the link in that thread and so on.....

Honestly, I don't know whether it still works or not. Embarassed

I know the new app for some EasyMenu models that increased the preference screens (finally) did NOT get offered for the EASE in North America, nor the Start in Europe. (and those are the models the tip referred to)

So, at this point, I don't know.........

As of October 8th, gpspassion reports the 'hack' still works for the Start/EASE models. And it was a START model the OP referred to. So, I think it will still work on it.

AFAIK the work around does still work, the doubt crept in when using a certain "B" release Navcore on the Start that prevented the custom menu options, the B release stayed as just B rather than public - Mike

Excellent news!
Thanks for clarifying.

So... the PGPSW camera data compatibility table definitely needs updating to show it CAN work on these models, guys!

I have sdk menus on my Start and, when I upgraded to version 9.053 (I think -- don't have info with me here) it stopped working -- or started behaving oddly. I reverted to the previous edition and have not updated since.

If someone can confirm that later versions still support sdk, I would be very happy!
