1490T or TomtomXL Live

Trying to decide which one to get, both are around the same price with a years free Live Traffic on the Tomtom. The Tomtom Live traffic update sounds better than the Garmin though no ongoing charge for the Garmin updates and I quite like the look of the 1490T

Any comments welcome to help me decide.

The mapping appears to be better on the Garmin units than the TT's.

I've been checking the maps against each other & the Garmin unit has Navteq maps and they're spot on for most areas that I'm likely to go to (Exmoor/Somerset-Wiltshire-Hampshire).

Whereas the TT's TeleAtlas maps have so many errors, including the roads in the immediate area where I live, so I'm planning to get a Garmin.

I was in the market for a new satnav to replace my old Nuvi 250 , was a toss up between the 1390t.. 1490T .. tom tom XL live and the 1690T .. i ended up sticking with Garmin and got the 1690T , great unit and had no problems with it turning off etc yet as others have said (need to update to the latest software 3.60 o think it is ) ,... the 1690Ts traffic is better then the 1490s but the tom tom hd traffic is better then both so its swings and roundabouts and the Gamin live is cheaper after the year then Tom Toms

if i was you i would pay the extra and get the 1690T .
