I recently purchased Brodit's Holder for my new XL Live IQ Routes Edition and was surprised that it did not fit

My Tomtom does not go far enough into the holder for the mini usb connector to connect and charge the unit.

Having contacted Brodit and sending the holder back for testing I was sent a photo of their test XL Live IQ Routes Edition successfully inserted in the holder I returned.

I contacted Tomtom who eventually told me that the dimensions of the XL Live IQ Routes Edition vary according to serial number.

My unit measures 122 mm wide but according to Tomtom database they can be 4mm less at 118 mm.

For those new to the Brodit holder the design has tapered sides to aid location and line up of the mini usb connector but clearly will prevent a wider unit from fully seating.

I am currently trying to get Tomtom to exchange my unit for a narrower one but they are not being very helpful.

If anyone has also experienced this problem and found a solution I would be grateful for some feedback, for those considering a Brodit holder for the XL Live IQ Routes Edition be warned and measure your unit before placing an order with Brodit.

Regards

It used to be that bigger batteries were used for EU versions or Traffic versions than in standard regional units, which I believe caused variations in thickness. Not heard of it recently though. Perhaps Brodit adapt there holders off the shelf to the dimensions of new models, rather than completely retooling for each new model.
