Depends on several factors. Are yo using one of the voice packs from here for the alerts or a built in sound on the Kenwood?

I don't know the Kenwood at all, I guess you've checked all the menus for different volume controls?

If it's one of the voices from here, I would normally say that they have all been recorded to maximum digital volume, but I recently discovered that they have used an older version of one of them (possibly Kate) and the latest "Nick" is very quiet. Try another voice? (and please report back if it's an improvement so I know which one to fix!)

If the Kenwood is based on a Garmin in the background, You may be able to use our voice alerts instead.
Sorry to be vague, but I don't know the Kenwood models at all.

software needed
http://audacity.softwaredl.net/ audacity
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=927 poiloader
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/files/sox-win/14.3.1/ sox.exe

(Note by Andy_P - the new download system for the voice warnings allows you to download DIRECTLY in .wav format, so there's no need to go through any of the steps with Audacity (unless you want to change the volume of the individual files)

Before you start download sox.exe and save it to the same folder as poiloader (usually called gamin)

1 download and extract your camera warning files remembering where you extracted them to
2 open audacity then click file then open the audio file you need to convert
3 if your file is stereo then we need to convert it into a mono format to do this click on the down arrow in the left hand gray box near the top select split stereo track then click on the same down arrow again and select mono then delete the bottom track
4 then click file then export as wav file and save in the same folder as your extracted speed cameras note the audio files must be called the same as speed cameras i.e
gatso20.wav
gatso20.bmp
gatso20.csv
5 once you have repeated this process with all the audio files you then run poiloader as you normally would if all goes well then the resultant poi.gpi file should be around 7mb give or take

if you find your warnings too quite/ loud then use audacity to increae/decrease the volume using the + - slider fond to the left hand side of the track
hope this helps
