Ive had my DConnex BC-307 compactflash GPS a few days and cant install the driver (s). The mini CD rom supplied, has a lot of drivers but no exe file and the drivers dont install.

has anyone else had problems, or have any idea where I should go from here?

look for CAB files on the CD. One of them may say ARM or 2577 in the name. Copy this to your Pocket PC and execute it via the Pocket File Explorer.

do those files still apply?

Ah.. that's a different game... Not sure this will work under Win95. You should at least upgrade to Win98SE. And under Windows you will need to search for a directory containing a .INF file and peek into that to see how installation should go/which files are required.

What's the Libretto saying when you insert the card? Good beep or Bad beep? "Found new hardware"?

I found some drivers for GlobalSat CF card at their homepage:
http://www.globalsat.com.tw/english/download.php?level_id=3

There are two packages for the BC-307; one which seems to be the CD contents, and one "for XP" although it seems to be some utils for Win95->XP.

It says in the documents that it supports Win98->XP, but I would give it a try anyway.

I hope this helps. Thumbs Up [/url]

thanks for the replies guys, these forums are v helpful(he says hopefully)
I looked in device manager and under Ports; COM5 shows compact flash oxford semiconductor (the correct driver)

Im using the unit on a modern Fujitsu Amilo(win XP) as well as the Libretto(win95)

Although I find the oxford semiconductor driver in ports, I dont see the GPS itself?
any ideas

You won't see the GPS itself, but if you launch Hyperterminal direct to the COM port settings 4800 baud, no parity, 1 stop bit - you should get a continuous stream of NMEA data sent to your screen.

You'll know it's NMEA because of the $ at the beginning of every line.

Well I assume you're planning on using the output in a program ? If you are that's what you need to tell it about the GPS - it's on COMx (x=5 in your case), baud rate 4800 and it's using NMEA.

That ought to be about it..... but it proves your GPS is working :D and I was going to offer to take it off your hands as a non-working one too Wink

Sorry I can't be more specific - but I've not used any SatNav progs on the Laptop - too busy using the iPaq instead....
