if it's an important security issue then they may rush it through. for run of the mill stuff they don't.

And it seems there is a little luck involved. We've had versions approved in 24hrs before but it may just be a very busy period for Apple. _________________ Darren Griffin |

from the newsletter
You may have heard a 'whoop' of joy a few days back as an email from Apple dropped into our mailboxes.
After a very long wait , CamerAlert had moved to 'In Review' status, a major step forwards.
Sadly, the joy was short lived as on Wednesday we received an email saying it had been rejected because they now require a logo on any map data sourced from Google in an app.
So we've spent the last two days sorting graphics and integrating them into the app so that we can re-submit.
This would not normally be such an issue but we're praying it doesn't take another two weeks before we get to 'In Review' again. |

Yup, a real PITA.
All the previous versions have been approved without the graphics but it seems Apple are now requiring them and enforcing the rule.
Fingers crossed that we get back to in-review status quicker this time _________________ Darren Griffin |

Oh how I so wish I could share your enthusiasm....
Using the new version, iPhone4 latest OS, Tomtom latest version I got "Poor GPS Reception" reporting on tomtom app all the way from daventry to birmingham this morning with it jumping in and out.
I turned of the camera alert and everything returned to normal on tomtom.
In summary the camera alert now is multi tasking as long as you dont use any other app that uses GPS |

You're very quick to blame our app! We've been using it here for some time and have none of those issues? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well I dont like to point fingers but by closing your app and trying again the tomtom worked as normal didnt drop out once. I then turned the camera alert back on and again tomtom reports poor gps and the gray screen.
This is a journey I do every day so I'm in a good position to judge.
Are you using the tomtom cradle? |

Nope. However, I have an update of TomTom that is not yet available to you.
Previous versions had a bug that caused 'poor GPS reception' to be displayed in a number of circumstances.
The TT app I have is awaiting Apple approval.
Having said that, not all of PGPS's CamerAlert test team have this TT update and it's not been reported as an issue by anyone else
Do you have any other navigation apps you can test with to eliminate TT as the problem? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi, I've been eagerly awaiting this version as I have to keep going back to V1 so the audio is not broken (I don't have audio modified i.e. paused).
Observations from journey to work.
No apparrent diffence if set to Pause or Fade, it just fades for both.
When an alert is played its random if the sound level will return to normal and its the same for the all clear. As soon as the application is closed (not background) the sound level returns to normal.
I'm on firmware 4.01 so I appreciate this may be an issue, but from previous posts where it was claimed all audio issues work it does come as major disappointment.
Looks like I will need to wait another 4 months for version 1.3 and hopefully the option of not changing the audio pause or fade will be present. |

Ok I will certainly try this with the new tomtom update when available.
Lets see how others get on - I will try again on the way home tonight and let you know if things improve.
I'm not knocking the app I really (trust me here) need this to work as I drive a lot of miles aday and need the cameras the tomtom ones are so out of date they even report liverpool in europe |

John, It may also be useful to load our free GPS Info App iTunes Link, to see what it reports for signal when CamerAlert is running.

Not entirely sure what you mean by 'option of not changing the audio pause or fade'? What set-up do you have?
Oh and the delays were Apple's fault and not ours _________________ Darren Griffin

the tomtom loss of signal effects me, however it does it whether or not cameralert is running. loads of people have reported the 'loss of gps signal' bug with tomtom, and as darren states this is one of the fixes in the upcoming 1.5 from tomtom.
re the 'option of audio not being changed' - darren, this was a suggestion in the cameralert forum that as well as 'pause' and 'fade' there is an option of 'dont change any of the audio levels'.
the audio not fading back in is a bug in the firmware, i believe, and not our app. if you update your iphone to 4.1 (i.e. the latest, most up to date software for your phone) then you will find the audio issue is resolved (even though you will be using the same app).
