Help with P O I downloads

I have a Nuvi610 and my friend also has the same model he has a S D card which he puts into it when he is in France with all the Aiers on it for motorhome parking . He lent me it to download onto my PC them download that from my PC to a SD card i have window Vista now when i do this and put it into my Nuvi it comes up on data on card. As he got the card done for him when on a campsite in England so he cant help me and i know nothing about downloading P O I onto SD cards i have tried to download PoI before from this and others site and gave it up . So could someone please tell me how to download POI onto my PC and then onto a SD card please and also what went wrong with my friends SC card that i could not download it onto my own SD card thonk you
