|
|
i've got a navman icn 630 and it's a V2 version.
i've also got a 512mb SD-card.
when i've downloaded the maps to the SD-card
and i turn on the navman the bootloader loads the maps, but
it get stuck after loading 1 or 2maps.
i've try to turn on and off and format my sd-card and install the maps agian, but got the same problem.
my intern memory works very well. when i put a map in the intern memory
and loads it, it cost like 5 sec to load the map and doesn't get stuck.
what can cause this? |

Hi
I was under the impression after reading the iCN 630 User Guide, that the largest SD card you can use is 256Mb. Perhaps because you are using the 512Mb Sd card this is causing your problem:?:

I've not seen any new postings from you, but further to your query regarding your iCN 630 & 512Mb SD Card. I've made some enquiries with Navman and they tell me that the unit will support a 512Mb SD Card but your unit needs to be installed with Version 2 + Service Pack 1. They did warn of some cards which are slow / cheap which can effect the performance of your unit.
I could not get them to recommend any particular make but I'm sure there are other Forum users who would be happy to pass on their thoughts on this matter
Hope this is of some use to you.
Regards

The usual recommendation is to avoid Sandisk and rebadges thereof. The fastest cards tend to be those made by Panasonic (which a few manufacturers rebadge - but they tend to be more expensive than normal).
If the original poster posts any markings from the back of his/her storage card, I may be able to recognise the manufacturer.

I have just purchased the 630 v2. How can I tell if the latest service pack is on it .
The version number is 2.01.0086 which was built on 2004-03-10
I tried the update download from navmans site which told me my desktop was fully up to date, by that do they mean the unit itself? |

Good morning
If you have only just purchased your iCN 630 then I am certain that SP1 will have been applied, however if you have any doubts then a quick call to Navman on 01293 780 500 and they would be able to confirm it for you.

Gosh that was quick!
Thanks for your advice
I did have the NAVman Jacket for my IPAQ previously, with the Smart ST software, I gave up with it because of poor routing and also the whole system being lost when the batteries ran out.
The 630 by comparison is a dream |

nic
Just some further information for you regarding your query. I was on the phone earlier to Navman regarding another matter and I took the opportunity to check with them. Apparently, so they tell me, if you look on the reverse of your software pack which came with your unit you will find a label which gives your Product Key. Just above that it should say "SmartST V2 + SP1 for iCN630 - Europe."
As I said if you get any problems give them a call.
Regards

I have been using Sandisk 512mb memory cards on my ICN630 for
a couple of weeks and have had no problems. The maps do take
a little time to load, but I have not had any freeze ups with the ICN630.
I have tried a friends Kingston SD card and did noticed that the maps
loaded slightly faster, but not much. |

Sandisk and Sandisk made SD cards are troublesome on a wide variety of hardware - search the forums for plenty of examples.
