Since updating to iOS4 on 3GS and, latterly, iP4, my TomTom nav app has developed an annoying problem.

This happens when connected to my in-car bluetooth kit (JabraSP700), spoken instructions miss the first word(s) off. It's like the bluetooth doesn't react fast enough and switch on the audio in time to hear the entire instruction.

Exactly the same bluetooth device worked perfectly with old 3GS...

Any thoughts, or even if you've noticed the same problem, would be great.

Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem also with a Jabra SP700. It's not just Tomtom though, all apps that give audible alerts seem to suffer the same.

I'm sorry to hear you've got the same problem, but glad I'm not the only one!

I wonder if this is an iOS4 problem, or an incompatibility with the JabraSP700?

I've sent a support request to Jabra and I'll follow this up on Monday with a phone call. If I hear anything helpful I'll post back.

A stunningly useful response... Thanks for the update, and apologies for my lack of communication prior to this; I'm currently overseas, with limited Internet access.

Regards,

There are various reports of Bluetooth issues relating to iPhone's iOS4... I have my fingers crossed that the forthcoming iOS4.1 (propably not iOS4.0.1) will fix the issue we've come across...

4.0.1 update hasn't resolved the problem
Sad

This does not affect just the Jabra, I use an IOPlay BT handsfree/A2DP in both my cars and experience the same problems. The best results I have found it to use the iPod Player with TomTom, not an ideal choice if you want to listen to the radio...

iOS 4.1 is supposed to fix Bluetooth issues. Has anyone checked it out in relation to the issue we're experiencing here?

We'll find out shortly. IOS4.1 has just been released and I'm downloading it as I write this.

Nope, 4.1 doesn't fix the problem!
I've had enough of iPhones. The wife's getting an HTC Desire soon, if it's any good I'm going to follow.
You'd have thought with Android starting to eat up all the market share Apple would do everything they could to try and stop it.

I'll test the Ioplay with 4.1 tomorrow as I also suffer this problem with CamerAlert.

However 4.1 does now allow you to use the track forward and back buttons!
