Excellent - now one of my main reasons for buying a TT device has gone away.

I may well invest in a 3970 soon!!!

Does the car mount swivel on a "normal" Garmin ball, and are there screws to seperate the mounting stem from the actual device holder as its important to me that I can fit it to a Brodit dash mount - A picture of the back of the car mount would be really apreciated if you could take one and e-mail it over (button below this post is a live e-mail account) - Don't take your mount to bits though! - Thanks - Mike

alan_sh - yes it seems Garmin have a winner hear. Didn't even know I wanted my sat nav to look like a phone until I saw this little number...!

As for navigation, over the past 6 months i've seen the routing, lane guidance and zoom improve on my Garmin 765t - but still crave the improves graphics, but particularly customised info buttons, portrait display and above all nuroutes and traffictrends tools

mmmm....

Mike

The cradle to mount fixing to the Garmin ball is the "bog standard" one. ie the Garmin ball is the same size - in fact the mount is the same as on the 2x5 and 1690, only the powered cradle is different as it has the speaker in the rear and slimmer design at the front to reflect how thin this unit is. The cradle "snaps" to the mount in the same way as all previous Nuvis that I've owned

On the Garmin blog website there is a mini website for the 37X0 series with the following videos to whet the appetite!

The mini site is here

I've ordered one - should be here today. My TT 730 is OK - it does the job - but I just get irritated with it. Hopefully, this purchase will cure that!

I've just read a review on Amazon that Garmin have eliminated the possibility of using 3rd party camera/radar warnings & that it always goes to the Cyclops system. Shocked

Can anyone confirm this please, before I decide to order.

I've just installed the speed camera DB from here using POI loader onto the 3790, found the "Proximity Points" setting, disabled the Garmin one and enabled "Custom POIs".

So I assume it's OK.

There is an option on some of the newer Nuvis to display Enhanced Data. The standard two box display on the bottom of the display is the Standard data (nuvi 360, 660, 760) and the Enhanced data is avaible on newer models (1400, 1690, 3790).

The Enhanced data occupies four user defined boxes on the right hand side of the map and in addition to the ones shown you can also display a compass heading and an Elevation. With the 1690 and 3790 you can choose either data display.

OK - so how do I get to Enhanced Data? OK - found it. It's under Tools - Settings - Navigation - Car - Map Data Layout - More data.#

Handtec have just made a sale!

Bought one for £258,38 + £3,99 delivery = £262,37.

I'm looking forward to getting it and giving it a try out, I only hope I've made the right decision & that I can definitely put the camera warnings on.

Wazza

The speed cameras from this site do display on the 37X0 series. There is an issue with the Red Cameras not displaysing properly due to a seeming clash with the Garmin pre-installed cameras.

Garmin is not stopping 3rd party POI data but there has been an announcement that Tom Tom is though which was on the front news page of this site and the weekly e-mail

I am currently looking at the following two cases made by golla (see golla.com)

They are oth approx 85x130mm, which should fit the nuvi.

1) Golla IDA L (simple pouch, leather effect...handy for slipping in/out of your pocket)
http://www.golla.com/#/en/bags/mobile/ida_l/purple
Available for about £5

2) Golla GAVIN (slightly larger with ziped pocket for bits)
http://www.golla.com/#/en/bags/mobile/gavin/black
Available for about £8

Mmm, I've seen similar & they don't seem to offer much protection.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a hard/semi-hard case.

Yes, fair enough, I guess they are quite soft...but they are small enough to fit in your pocket...so perhaps the 'protection' aspect is less of an issue...well, that's my thinking anyway.

However, if I was to find a hard case hat is not much bigger than the actual GPS, I too would prefer this option.
