My 3760T arrived today. Have to wait till the weekend before I can use it. Looks stunning though - incredibly slim.

Any more reports on the 3790s?

How is the screen coping with all this sunshine?

Wasn't going to get one (despite its looks!) because of it being non-connected, but having seen a few videos may now be tempted to replace my 765

BAVC10 how does the routing through heavy traffic compare with your connected 1690 ? We don't get good (or more often than not even any) coverage with TMS around my main driving routes, hence the wish for GSM Traffic - but have not tried it. Any advice?

Appreciate your feedback as if I look at the 3790 again I think my wallet will have to come out...!

I've ordered the 3790T It will be here tomorrow Bouncing So I'll be giving my dad my old 765T

Edit:

It arrived around 8:00am and it's fantastic, so much better than the 765T and they have done a great job on the map detail. I've ordered a Garmin style slip case but does anyone know where I can get a screen protector for it, in the UK. Thank you

Can someone answer these for me:

1/ Does it come with a mains charger?

2/ Does it come with a car charger & if so what type (Micro USB/Mini USB)?

3/ What's the battery life like?

4/ How easy is it to install the camera POIs from here on to it?

5/ Does it make the necessary warning noises when you're approaching them & can you configure the amount of distance of the warning (eg 880 yards)?

It's just I'm giving this unit some serious consideration to replacing my TT720 which is useless on battery (about 45') & with TT's attitude to 3rd party POIs & possibility of not being able to use these camera updates, makes me want to switch.

Ta.

1. No mains charger

2. It comes with a car charger, you just plug it in the lighter socket. It also comes with a USB lead to connect it to the PC for updating. When it's connected to the PC it is also charging.

3. 4 hours

4. Extremely easy, you just use a program called poi-loader
Code:

5. When approaching a speed camera it makes a "bong" sound

There only seems to be a Car and Pedestrian mode now from the main screen, bicycle is there but takes a few screens to get to it.

At the main menu, peress the car icon at the top left, a screen pops up so you can choose Car, Pedestrian or Bicycle Wink

3790T is fine in the Sunshine - the glass screen is more reflective than the standard Nuvi screen but the brightness more than compensates.

Routing in heavy traffic is fine. The traffic icon will often dispaly a "Saved XX Minutes when it finds heavy traffic. The traffic isn't perhaps as up-to-date as the Connected 1690 but main routes seem ok. The GTM35 works well (I tried a GTM35 in a 265WT and it worked much better (quicker acquisition) than the GTM25 supplied).

Thanks for that. Do you know if you can buy a mains charger for it & what sort of USB cable is it? Micro USB or Mini USB? Because I've got a couple of both laying about.

it's a Micro-USB but you get one in the box so you won't need to buy one. Yes you can get a cheap mains charger for it.

BAVC10 thanks for the info - does the 3790 come with a GTM25 or GMT35?

Also can you easily add voice prompts for the speed cams from the PGPSW database as on my 765t?

Appreciating your feedback

3790T comes with the GTM35 - this looks almost identical to the GTM25 but seems to be much more sensitive as I pick up traffic earlier.

You can add the standard voices using the PGPSW weekly speed cam database but you will need to use Sox.exe to enable the voice prompts. There does seem to be a conflict with the Traffic Cameras and the pre-installed Garmin camera database as the former don't always show up. All other types of camera work fine though you may want to adjust the volume of the camera alerts as the 3790T is very load even at 50% volume when using the external mount.

Not tried the Voice Command yet - but sounds impressive.

The bicycle icon shows up on the main screen (icon) but on the Settings, Navigation screen you only get Car or Pedestrian modes.

First screenshot shows new detail with "map like" background

A quick question. The pictures you post all show arrival and speed information on the RH side. All the pics on the Garmin site show the old style information at the bottom.

So, is the information location changeable now or did you do something special?

Cheers

Alan

There is an option on some of the newer Nuvis to display Enhanced Data. The standard two box display on the bottom of the display is the Standard data (nuvi 360, 660, 760) and the Enhanced data is avaible on newer models (1400, 1690, 3790).

The Enhanced data occupies four user defined boxes on the right hand side of the map and in addition to the ones shown you can also display a compass heading and an Elevation. With the 1690 and 3790 you can choose either data display.
