I have recently downloaded "Kate" onto my 750 - no problem other than there is a distinct difference in the volume between Kate's warnings and the female voice route instructions. Is there a way to equalise the balance between the two?
Also, if my mobile phone rings it mutes the car's audio system but as far as I can see no after market sat nav offers this feature - would be nice not to have warnings and instructions competing with the audio - or is there a way to achieve it?

Can't help with volume equalisation, sorry.
Presumably your phone is handsfree to the radio. One possibility might be your own manual intervention by having the "Turn off/on sound" on the 750's quickmenu button? But it's down to you being able to do so safely on the move.
You could instead pair it by bluetooth to the 750 for hands free and that would mute all instructions and warnings during the phone call, when the 750 takes over audio from the phone. Pairing and actual successful phone/TomTom handsfree has been something of a lottery with previous models of TomTom. _________________ Dennis

The "navigation" (TTS) Kate gets set at a level based on several settings including road speed. The "camera" Kate is pre-recorded at a certain level and doesn't change.
The work around that I use is to rename the files and then get the TTS Kate to read the filename using the "brief spoken warning" option (eg with the file 'camera!_30_mph.ov2', TTS Kate says 'Camera! 30 miles per hour, 300 yards').
Alternatively, you can use the "type in your own warning" though this will take some effort with the on-screen keyboard. _________________ Gerry

The major problem is that any Text-to-speech voice on the TomTom is louder then everything else. If you use a "real" voice, any warning sound effects or spoken warnings match much better.
I've been asking TomTom to come up with a way to balance the various audio sources ever since I've owned a TomTom, but it has fallen on deaf ears, I'm afraid.
I even sent them this suggestion back in 2008...
.. but all they've done is take the jukebox off! |
