Do another backup NOW!!! then you've got a backup of a working thingy. Then put your shiny new 4GB card into the TT and copy the backup from the PC, not from the TT to the card (or just copy the map folder to it, then you can delete the map folder from the TT if you feel brave.
Malham was obviously a blessing (and impressive, of course).
Speed Cameras? I presume you're talking TomTom cameras, not ours. We don't recommend TomTom cameras (even though it is alleged that they use RA data).
Have you still got the screenshots as Bitmaps or JPGs? The way to insert pictures here is to host them as JPGs somewhere like Photobucket then add the IMG code to your post here. Make sure before uploading to Photobucket that you size the image to maximum 480 pixels wide.
Alternatively if you have a simple Word file, you could copy and paste the text. _________________ Dennis

Will do the backup.
Regarding the TTHome Folders although I have saved the Printscreen shots as WORD doc files for some reason I cannot paste them to this Reply area. I can copy & paste within WORD but not to here. I would like to be able to show you how fundamentally different the 2 Folders are. Does anyone have any ideas?

It will allow you to List the Folder, which can be copied to the PC Clipboard and then pasted into a Post. _________________ Richard

I have the 750 live and I am using a 4gB card. All working fine and using home to update without any problems and do not use a card reader.
I used explorer at first to move the map from my tomtom memory to the external card. I have since used home with latest map guarantee to update (even though it says installing to internal memory) and the map is updated ok.
When connecting up tomtom to computer a box requests you which memory to use but It doesn't seem to matter which internal memory you click as home knows what to update automatically.
By doing this I have more space on both cards to use and am happy with the 750. Hope this helps. |

Firstly, many thanks to Dennis, Oldboy & Jadonx for the helpful messages.
I have backed up to the desktop, transferred the map to the 4Gb card and deleted the map from the internal memory. Phew! Hot sweats! Then, at the weekend we went to enjoy the bluebells down in Staffordshire. So, I took the 750 and also my RA Compact to compare the "safety camera" alerts side by side. Surprisingly the 750 picked up all the permanent and temporary speed cameras but missed 5 mobile camera locations. I have written to Road Angel about this but I am not holding my breath. How much is the PGPS alerts?
Regarding the differing TT folders I have decided not to put them up here unless anyone asks for them as I still am having difficulty in providing this except as a long list of Files using the DriveZ method. I now have 2 different TT backup folders the latest having the following additional 13 Files: cp; ephem; fuel prices; maps; microbrowser; poi; program; statdata; currentmap; install; mctx; pluserror; tthome.
When I connect to my PC the 750 opens a Folder TTHOME2 as a new Drive Letter and when I update the, eg GPSFIX File, it also updates this in another Folder Tom Tom which is in My Documents. This has a Folder called HOME which has sub folders as follows: ephemeris; fuelprice; map; poi; program; safetycamera. I presume anyone reading this will now have their eyes glazed over and the subject is at an end as far as I am concerned as the unit does seem to be operating fine.
Now I just need to get the safety, oops I have become increasingly indoctrinated, speed camera location info resolved. Especially after hearing on here that Durham & N Yorks are going to install them.
Regards, jack |

PGPSW camera database will cost you £20 a year. TomTom are currently hawking theirs round for the same price, but for 18 months.
There are a number of differences - pgpsw is accurate (and where but pgpsw did you hear about forthcoming Durham & N.Yorks?).
If you had three satnavs in your household, you could load it on all three for the one subscription price - three TomToms means three times £20.
With pgpsw you get the chance of a reward for submitting camera information - free membership for life. It's not dead easy or guaranteed, but a helluva lot of people have got it.
More customisable - spoken individual warnings for each camera type, really great icons for your display, etc.
You've already seen the benefits of asking for help on this forum - fast, friendly and good advice. If you've tried TomTom Support email or phone, you'll surely have noticed the difference.
Of course, I'm biased. After all, I got my free lifetime membership back in Feb 2006 from submitting. But I still submit and I also do camera submission verifying - I can positively say pgpsw DOES verify camera submissions - no verification, no entry in the database.
In short, PGPSW camera database does just about everything the TomTom database doesn't. They both takes yer money - you takes yer choice! _________________ Dennis

Believe me the £20 per year for the PGPSW speed cam alerts is a bargain. I have been a subscriber for a number of years and found them to be very accurate.
I too have recently purchased a Go Live 750. It came with 1 months free Live Services (plus 12 free extension). I have never used these services before. I have to say the TT safety alerts were/are a complete waste of time. I don't know how TT have the cheek to even market them. Before I moved my PGPSW alerts over I did a journey with the TT safety alerts active. It missed loads of cameras and those it did alert me too I had passed seconds earlier, absolutely useless.
Needless to say the TT alerts are disabled and PGPSW cam alerts installed, updated and working fantastically. Highly recommended.
Having said that, the help you receive on these forums is free, gratis and for now't. £20 is a very small price to pay as far as i'm concerned. _________________ Cracking Toast Gromit!

Thanks, Dennis & Wendolene, for your messages. I'm still waiting for a response from Road Angel so it looks like I will be heading PGPS' way!
