If I have prepared a fairly long route and it is just what I need after viewing the demo, can I save it as an itinerary? I have a TT XXL540S. I read on an earlier post that this was possible but don't think it explained how to do it.
Thanks

It depends how you prepared the route.
Did you use the Itinerary page?
If so, you can select Options, and Save Itinerary, giving it a suitable name.
If you did it some other way, can you ell us what you have done so that the answer can be tailored more specifically. _________________ Richard

If you just did it with "Prepare route", then there's no way to actually save it.
The TomTom always calculates it's routes "on the fly" at the moment you ask it to and normally the route calculated SHOULD always be the same.
But whether that varies at all depends on two factors:
1. If you have the recent maps with "IQ Routing", then the map "knows" the different traffic conditions at different times of the day and when you ask it to create a "Prepare route" it may ask you what time of day you want to simulate the travel to happen. So it may produce different routes at different times of day.
2. If you have a "Traffic" enabled device, it will alter the route to allow for real-time hold-ups and traffic jams.
If you have neither of those, then the route calculated SHOULD always be the same (assuming you always select "fastest" or "shortest" etc.)
If the TT insists on using a different route to the one you want for whatever reason, then one work-round that often helps is to save a position half way along the route (as a Favourite or POI) which you can use as a "Travel via.." point when you ask it to calculate the route. |
