I have been very happy with my o2 XDA Mobile (HTC P3300?) for last couple of years, but i really want more omph in a PDA now!

I am thinking of treating myself to this one...
http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/0,39030108,49305369,00.htm

I see it runs this android thing, seeing as i use WM6 at the moment this alien to me.
I was wondering can the andriod be exterminated to run WM6 as to then run my Tomtom navigator..version x?

Thanks (MIKE?!)

I very much doubt you will get a Windows Mobile ROM to work on that device, instead contact Sygic and ALK (Co-Pilot) as both these companies support the Android platform with their products but neither state support for the HTC Desire (probably because its a very new device) - Mike

I can't see anyway of running WM on an Android phone (which is based upon Linux). And I can't see any point. One of the best bits of my HTC Hero running Android is the operating system.

As Mike says look at Sygic and Copilot. I use Sygic, which has a similar interface to TT

Thanks guys,

But I guess im not just worried about ttn, but also all the other top programs ive found for wm6.

Are any of the top mobile firms doing htc phones with wm6 these days with/without contract?

Thanks

There are several HTC WM6 phones about both on and off contract. Have a look at their webite at www.htc.com. But remember MS have announced that WM6 will be superceeded by a new WM later this year which is not backwards compatable with WM6 phones. So I suspect until that is out there will be few new WM phones launched.

Also remember that are loads of apps available for Android now. What programmes do you use? I suspect there may be an Android equivalent. It pains me to say this but the iphone has shown just how easy getting additional programmes for your phone should be. Android have just followed their example.

Further to my earlier post, i see that T-Mobile do a HTC Touch 2 running WM6.5.

Anyone know if this is a good phone? from the specs the main benefits would be a faster processer. Would this stop the screen jumps when running TTN? when it refreshes. ?
And perhaps have more power to have POI shown on the map, rather then only warn when near?

Thanks

The Touch HD2 outperforms an iPhone 3GS in most areas and its a very nice unit to use, it will run TTN7 as I have seen it working on one of these units last year - very nice PDA based phone - Mike

Thanks Mike,

Slightly diversing, do you know if it can be configured to `look` like a classic 6.1 Today screen?

Im also a lover of the buttons on my current xda orbit phone, having the GPS button and Explorer button ( which is setup for GPS SS ) which is handy to then toggle between the two when driving.
Would this be as easy on the new HTC Touch 2? Would there be a button you can press to toggle between programs as easy?

Shame the screen size is the same, otherwise it does look a fairly nice upgrade.
