pocketgpsworld.comTomTom have announced two new models, the Start2 and the XL IQ Routes edition2.

More a rejig of existing product than entirely new devices, Start 2 adds lane guidance and IQ Routes plus support for RDS-TMC Traffic Data using an extra costs receiver.

TomTom are also offering a range of 'StartSkins', coloured plastic covers that can replace the supplied black shell for £14.99 per cover.

The second new model the (deep breath) XL IQ Routes edition2 is based upon the existing product but worryingly sports a new 'simplified menu' which suggests this may have adopted the Start menu structure. Let's hope that if so, it has not forgone custom POIs and alerts in the process.

The XL IQ R2 also has Text to Speech, lane guidance, Map Share and of course, IQ Routes plus support for RDS-TMC Traffic via an extra cost optional receiver.

Available beginning of April, Start2 has a retail price of £119 for UK & Ireland, £139 for the Europe version and XL IQ Routes Edition2 is £139 for UK & Ireland, £159 for Western Europe.

The Start was very dumb to begin with.
If there's a Start2, have they dumbed down the dumbness even further? Shocked

i love the PGPSW review of the original xl iq routes as it showed all the menus,
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-xl-iq-routes-edition-2679.php

does anyone have screenshots of the menus in the 2 edition. i know it is reduced but i would like to see the settings and advanced settings menus that they flash up on various video reviews.

thanks
