Thanks for the feedback.

As a previous GO owner (many different models, it's a long story Rolling Eyes ) the one thing that let the XL LIVE down was the lack of TTS. Other than that it has done everything I need for a SatNav, and compared to recent GO models it actually does everything that it 'says on the tin'.

So, within days of gettng it last July I have been 'experimenting' with enabling TTS, with varying degrees of success.

I can't take the credit for all of it, it is a combination of the work of 3 others from different forums, to provide a simple 'mod' to enable TTS and no other changes. All I did was understand how they were doing certain things and then strip out anything I didn't want/need, plus add a couple of my own tweaks.

Anyway, glad it works well for you - give 9.051 a whirl, you may prefer the new interface. Now you know how to install it manually it only takes half an hour or so to switch Navcores. In theory, now you have Nav9 on there you could just install it over the top without deleting anything other than mapsettings.cfg. Just make sure you choose Yes to all when WinRAR asks about overwriting files.

I am looking forward to trying this on my xl live during the week. Have missed tts so much since I sold my 730 due to it not connecting to my iphone for the traffic updates.

Hi again Andy.If I put 9.051 on to my tomtom does that mean that I dont need my rds-tmc anymore and that it will connect to my phone via the internet.

Unfortunately, no.

The ONE/XL IQ don't have bluetooth so you will still need your RDS-TMC.

I have modified 9.051 from the XXL to work with TTS on the ONE IQ and XL IQ - it will not work on the XL LIVE though - the Kernel included does not have LIVE support..

Updated my TT IQ ROUTES XL using this link last night - and after rebooting this morning - it seems to work ok..

Will report back later tonight as that'll be when I'm able to FULLY test it on a run out in the car....

The 9.051 build is still a bit experimental as I can't test reliably on mine due to LIVE not working.

I have found that it seems to lag behind a bit - I a doing a bit more tweaking so let me know how it performs for you. It might just be because it is on a LIVE device.

Gave my TT (with the updates from here) a brief run out to work tonight..

Seems to work BRILLIANTLY - with only a slight mis-pronunciation of one or two street names (like OXCLOSE being pronounced UXclos...)

Just got to programme all my Camera's and POI's back in now!!!!

Does the route summary screen not look different?

It does on mine, but mine is a XL with LIVE services.

Create a new POI category and save your Favourite in there instead if you're going to be mucking about with different software versions.

Also, If you name the POI category something like "_My Favourites" (note the underscore at the front) it will appear at the top of the POI list so will be easier to select.

OK - I did say 9.051 was a bit experimental.

Even though it is a public release TT have left debug enabled, which is either an oversight or for a reason Embarassed

Also, 9.051 was not written for your device whereas 9.026 was. I had to source the data_.chk files for a small screen from a different Nav9 so it may be that causing an issue. There hasn't been a 9.051 released yet AFAIK for anything other than a XXL, and there seem to be some significant differences between 9.026 and 9.051 both kernel and code wise. Other forums have reports of significant device slowdown when using TTS with 9.051

Personally, I woud encourage everyone to stay on 9.026 for now.

Glad 9.026 is working for you again - you are a quick learner on swapping Navcores - a week ago it was new territory, now you are doing it every day Laughing Out Loud

In fairness to Andy, it seems other people do have it working. Perhaps you might care to amend your comment to read "I think I do everything as it says"?
