I think Andy Vaughan's post above mentions your model, so the software update should work.

Not sure if anyone has posted a link to the actual voice files though.
Does anyone know if Home will offer them to you, once the software is updated and patched?

EDIT: Ignore my second paragraph, I've read Andy V's post properly now. Rolling Eyes

Ahh, I see what you mean...
But I think the download Andy V. is offering INCLUDES the update to v9.026, so once you've installed it, all will be well.

That's how I read it, but hopefully Andy can clarify the situation for definite.

Hi Andy. I am sorry to be thick and my 7yr old has long left home. I have downloaded all the files and done a backup as directed but not being very good on computers I am strugling with "do a full format with fat32 and leave the default settings".Any chance on educating an old man.Thanks.

OK - to clarify

Links for 9.026 for the XL (widescreen) and ONE (non widesceen) are in the readme.

Links for the Kate TTS voice file are in the readme

Doing a full format is not strictly necessary - it takes an age to copy the maps back to a ONE/XL (USB1), instead connect your TT to your PC, browse to the TT using Explorer and delete everything from the TT except the following files and folders:
tomtom.ico
autorun.inf
splashw.bmp or splash.bmp
zip folder
voices folder
raster folder
ephem folder
poi folder
fuel_prices folder
statdata folder
Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB map folder (or your UK & ROI map folder)

Now look in your map folder and delete mapsettings.cfg, deletedpoi.local and mapuserpatch.dat

You now have a 'clean' base to start from

Using WinRAR extract the 9.026 cab file to the drive letter of your TT. If it asks about overwriting any files say yes to all.

Using WinRAR extract the Kate cab to the LoquendoTTS folder on your TT.

Safely eject the TT and check it works OK - select a standard voice

Now extract the TTSFix rar file you have downloaded to your desktop or similar - you will have a readme and another rar file. Extract this new rar file to the TT, you should now have a file called ttn and a folder called TTSFix on the TT.

Safely eject - it will take longer to boot first time round.

Now select Kate and test - should work fine.

I have tested this on a XL LIVE and it is fine, should also work on a XL IQ and a ONE IQ as well.

If only I can fix why LIVE doesn't work with 9.051 for the XXL - I have TTS working on that as well but no LIVE services!

OK - made the process a bit simpler

Delete all the files and folders as described above

Download this - this has everything you need in it and will work on ONE IQ, XL IQ and XL LIVE

Extract the rar file to your TT, if it prompts for overwriting anything then choose yes to all

Safely disconnect and reboot - select Kate as the voice

WARNING - this is a 71Mb download as it has the Navcore and Kate TTS Voice all in one file.

Edit - link removed

Who wants to be at the cutting edge?

I have modified 9.051 from the XXL to work with TTS on the ONE IQ and XL IQ - it will not work on the XL LIVE though - the Kernel included does not have LIVE support.

Full package incuding Kate TTS voice, bootloader is still 5.5136 with this release.

I have only tested on a widescreen one - can someone let me know that it works on a standard screen ONE IQ.

Same as before - browse to the TT using Explorer and delete everything from the TT except the following files and folders:
tomtom.ico
autorun.inf
splashw.bmp or splash.bmp
zip folder
voices folder
raster folder
ephem folder
poi folder
fuel_prices folder
statdata folder
Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB map folder (or your UK & ROI map folder)

Now look in your map folder and delete mapsettings.cfg, deletedpoi.local and mapuserpatch.dat

Full download (70Mb) Edit - Link removed - proving to not be stable

Extract to the TT using WinRAR and if it prompts to overwrite choose Yes to all.

Feedback appreciated - you get the x50 route summary screen with this release, but still have the Nav8 navigation view with satellite strength etc.

Andy, I have promised myself that when I buy another SatNav, I shall take it out of its box, Stick it in the car, switch it on and go somewhere. Then turn it off until it's time to come home. That is all it shall ever do. It will never go near a computer in it's lifetime. I love playing with my 730, but I spend days doing nothing else. I need a job!

Give it a day or two on 9.026 and check that it is working OK.

9.051 has been released for the XXL - I have added in some missing files that SHOULD make it work on a ONE IQ - see six posts further up for the link.

9.051 should work fine with TTS on a ONE IQ or a XL IQ, I have had it running on the XL LIVE with TTS BUT on the XL LIVE the LIVE Services don't work. It seems to be a Linux Kernel issue - if I rebuild with the Kernel from 9.026 or 8.419 I can get some of the services working (HD Traffic) but Weather and Google still don't work. Isn't an issue though if you don't have a XL LIVE!

I will just have to wait for the release of 9.051 (or equivalent) for the XL LIVE.

Shame, as the interface of 9.051 is good - a cross between a x50 series and the original XL/ONE IQ.
