Navigons routing is terrible. When I went from Manchester to Edinburgh I thought I would try it out. It took me an extra hour to get there as it decided I wanted to go through lots of A roads instead of the motrorway. Co-pilots routing was a little better but not much. When I bought TomTom 1.2 the route was much faster.
Navigons traffic is also rubbish. As far as I can tell it's using TMC data so good look with getting traffic reports on anything but motorways.
TomTom cost 10p per day with a yearly subscription. It will save you much more than that be replanning your route. |

I have most of the SatNav Apps on my iphone co-pilot -Sygic-Tomtom-navigon. i have to say Navigon has won hands down. i have the Traffic feature and have had no problems with the routing. I am based in London and use the North circular on a daily basis and the traffic feature has helped me get out of many hold ups. I'm very happy with the Traffic feature and the routing of Navigon. Although i may avoid Manchester and Edinburgh.

Hardly extortionate! It's less than I pay on my standalone device and the HD traffic is very high quality. Superb value.

Got an alert today about traffic, and watched the countdown. I could literally see all the red lights coming on in front of me half a mile down the motorway, as TomTom was telling me it was half a mile away. Impressive. |

OK.. so it led you into a traffic Jam then , or did it re-route you out of trouble ! _________________ --

This was only a 2 minute jam. It was the accuracy that amazed me. |

hmmm im confused ... i don't want to be told Im about to get stuck in a jam and bathe in the glory of a hundred break-lights. I want a traffic system to get me out of a traffic problem and not tell me im going to become part of it in half a mile. _________________ --

The accuracy is very good, and you need to consider what the device is working with - Only half a mile to go to an incident so quite probable there is no exit from the motorway in the available road space between current position and the hold up, also diverting off a motorway (which the software is capable of) will add considerably more than two minutes to the ETA - I have been very impressed with the HD Traffic via iPhone over the past three or four months that I have been using it - Mike |

As mikealder says, where would the logic be in coming off a motorway for a 2 minute jam? Again, the comment was about the accuracy of TomTom HD, not its routing capabilities, which were irrelevant in this situation.
My commute doesn't really allow for rerouting due to roads I'm on, so I don't really use traffic information for that. I use it for (a) knowing what's ahead and how it will affect my arrival time and (b) for very serious jams where I might as well turn around and go home.
Anything else is gravy. |

Is Google search broken? Every search I try gives me the message "An error occurred". |

Does anyone else have no traffic available on their tomtom iphone app? Mine seems to have stopped working for some reason; probably connected with the disappearance of the tomtom website! |

I have just restored my iPhone. Still no Google search and traffic is unable to connect to the server.
Traffic was working fine while I was out today.
Although I bought a full year of traffic, under Current Subscription on the traffic page it says:
HD Traffic W. Europe
Subscription Expired
I only have the UK & Ireland app. I'm wondering if it has been confused with my old PND account on my GO 940. |

Not so fine this morning. I couldn't get a traffic connection, but had to restart and then got a connection. Had to restart again (damn you iPhone non-multitasking!) and lost the connection. Could not regain it.
No issue with my subscription, which is showing until 2011. Although it wouldn't allow me to register with my existing TomTom account email address. Did it let you do that?
I'm guessing they have server issues, but I'll log a ticket. |
