we noticed this on monday night as soon as teh app was available... apple have been asked to amend it (it is an error on their part, all our admin documents are correct) but still haven't yet...
Oh, and whilst I'm being annoyingly pedantic: "To ENSURE you have the latest camera information..." not "To INSURE you have..."[quote]
taken from yourDictionary
Quote: | When to Use Insure
Insure does relate to the buying and selling of insurance. However, people can also use it to mean "to make sure, certain, or secure," according to yourDictionary. While you can often substitute ensure for insure, it is most often used in relation to the insurance industry in American English. For example:
* John and Jodi needed to insure their home against flood damage.
* Insuring your home in anticipation of natural disasters is a good idea.
* Barbara got insured after she spoke to her local agent.
When to Use Ensure
Ensure and insure can be considered synonyms because of their interchangeability. In fact, insure is actually within the definition of ensure at yourDictionary: "to make sure or certain; insure." Use ensure in the following ways:
* The dog was ensured that his owner would be home soon.
* Billy was to ensure that the computer was packed safely.
* He double-checked the stove to ensure it was off before leaving on vacation.
You can also use insure in any of the previous sentences ( Billy was to insure that the computer was packed safely .) without changing the meaning of the sentence, according to yourDictionary. While either way is technically correct, it is important to note again that insure is most frequently associated with the commercial insurance industry. In that instance, you cannot substitute ensure for insure. |

I'll let the powers awnser your other question but as for the specs handling, the app is great. As long as the start, middles' and ends have been reported properly the app will keep the average running until it passes the end specs camera. What's more it will also keep resetting the average so that you don't accidentally overestimate any one particular section. Neat huh!
If the app does fail to show the avaerage speed you can always start it yourself! _________________ Dom

One small enhancement I would like to see is a setting to be able to override/ignore the camera direction, so you get warned even if the database says the camera is not facing your direction. This covers the situation where the camera has been changed (if marked as 1 way) or the DB is wrong (could possiblly happen!) _________________ Alan - iPhone 5 64GB, with CamerAlert, TomTom Europe & CoPilot |

The reason the iPhone is popular is not slick marketing, but a slick end-to-end user experience, hence the reason why for an iPhone user downloading this app is a no-brainer. From first seeing it to having it running took me all of 30 seconds. _________________ Tony

Interestingly we are now getting some negativity in the reveiws on the AppStore. Just spotted the usual, 'app crashed alot' comments which often is because they don't restart the phone before using the new app, or memory issues.
But more amusingly, because of the amount of subscibers buying the app first after seeing it here, it's been getting five star ratings accros the board. so I suppose it was only a matter of time before this got mentioned!

Disagree. I think you've underpriced it. I would gladly have paid a fiver for this, and even at £1.59 it would be a no brainer for an iPhone car driver.
Great job BTW. _________________ Tony

Wondering whether it’s possible to have CamerAlert running in the background providing Sound Warnings whilst using the TomTom app. Has anyone tried this? Could be a good reason to JB. |

The risk was alienating the potential new customers who don't have a subscription. I too would cirtainly have paid more but as a iphone user new to PGPSW £0.59 plus £20 subscription might have seemed a bit steep. 59p for access to the best camera database is a bargin _________________ Dom

Fair enough, I was thinking of existing subscribers, but as a foot in the door to a new subscription, yes it makes a lot of sense to PocketGPSWorld. _________________ Tony

The OP did actually say "Could this be a good reason to JB" _________________ Tony

I may just be missing something really obvious here, but how can you adjust the in-app volume? When i use the buttons on the side of the phone it just changes the ring volume? At present the only way I can figure out how to do it is open another app.
Cheers guys

Using the volume button should control our app volume, works as designed here?
Try a reboot of phone and retest? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Same result here. Pressing the volume up/down brings up the Volume display for the Ringer and not for the app itself. Most apps have a independent volume control displayed without the word Ringer showing.
Thanks for the info regarding registering a new iPhone Darren. |
