On the other hand --- take an example of 60 yards straight line, 70 yards round the twisty turny. Would the bendy way be 10mph faster? (I worked that out by thinking of 60 miles and 70 miles with refresh rate every hour Laughing - at grammar school, my maths mistress accused me of cheating when I got a pass at GCE O Level!)

Then divide the difference by 3600 (clue is how many seconds in an hour) and you will find out the answer you are looking for and its not 42 - Mike

Oh dear - us little 'uns only ever got up to 10 times tables. The big boys did their 3600 times tables, but by the time I to got that age, they'd started the new education and didn't do tables any more. Crying or Very sad

Fortunately my iPhone has a calculator - it's 0.00277778mph

You would need to to travel the 70 yards in the one second update period of the satnav. That's a speed of about 143mph. I wonder how you are going to negotiate the twisty turny bits at that speed? Shocked Perhaps these figures as well as Mike's above give a little idea of how much (little) difference it will make on a twisty turny road. Will it make a difference if you are going up or down hill? Probably, but also infinitesimaly small. Mike will no doubt give us the maths for that as well at the weekend. Shocked

For the benefit of anyone who has NOT twigged it, my posts in this subject are intended to show that as a lay ignoramus, I view the "problem" of twisty turny, uppy, downy as a remote, impossible occurrence.

Whatever speed I'm doing, I have no idea how many yards I'll travel in a second (although I have calculated that at 60mph I'll travel 880 yards in 30 seconds), but I'm convinced that any degree of twisty, turny which I stated might be negotiated without danger of crashing ("assuming twisty turny negotiable at 50mph without bending hedges") is far too insignificant to remotely affect the speed differences between a satnav and a speed camera.
