|
|
Morning,
My go 750 has it's day brightness set to 95%and night level set to 10%. I don't use night colours. Can anyone tell me why when it's dark the brightness remains on the day setting?
I can't see anywhere the option which tells the unit to automatically switch from one level to the other. As it has a light level sensor (doesn't it?) I figured it should do it automatically.
All help gratefully received.
Pete. |

Is the device on the mount? The sensor only seems to change brightness when it is on the supplied mount. _________________ Drivelux |

I don't have a 750 but do you have an option, in Brightness preferences, to Switch to night view when dark, and Turn brightness down when dark? _________________ Richard

x40 and x50 units do need to be sat on/ connected to the car mount for the light sensor to work, the light sensor is really a waste of time in these models as its way too insensitive leading to the device switching between day/ night modes when driving under trees in daylight! - In the end I switched the auto stuff off - Mike |

I thought the x50 series had its auto-light sensor disabled? And used the same method that the TT One uses whereby the unit knows what time darkness is where the unit is located?

It is on the mount supplied but this makes no difference. The light sensor seems not to work as it just does not dim at all when dark. There is the option to switch to night colours but frankly I think night view colours are pants. |

You canuse the same map colour scheme for the night settings as you do for the day settings, then at least you might get the auto dimming working.
The menus will still change colour though. |

Yep - exactly what I do on the XL LIVE
I use the same map colours for day and night but use the switch to night colours when dark option. The TT dims the brightness and switches the menus to the black background at night. |

That doesn't work on its own, as each colour scheme contains both the day AND night colour schemes. You only get the option to choose a complete set for day and night, you can't split the set up and ask it to use the "day" part of a certain scheme at night.
The only way to retain the day colour scheme is to tick the "reduce brightness when dark" box and un-tick the "switch to night colours when dark" box.
Then, if the light sensor is working and the device is on the dock, I think it should work.
Which unfortunately still doesn't explain why it isn't for Pete.
Have you tried a reset, or a return to factory settings, or a full software reinstall? (in that order of severity) |

If you use the Advanced option in Change Map Colours you have a greater selection of Colour Schemes.
You can then choose the same scheme for both Day and Night. If you set them both to 100% then they look exactly the same in the Navigation Window.
Reducing the Brightness, for dark use, will still use the same colours but with less 'whiteness'.
You can even make it work the 'wrong way round'. _________________ Richard

Is it different on the x50 to all previous TTs?
On my XL LIVE
Change Preferences
Change Map Colours
Advanced
Scroll through and select a day colour scheme
Scroll through and select the same colour scheme for night view
Now activate all of the switch to night view options and dim screen options. |

I think we are all talking about the same thing really, but might have slightly crossed wires.
What I was trying to say was that each colour scheme file contains the complete set of day colours and night colours.
Some of those colours you can change (using utilities like the Colour Scheme Editor) to be different for day and night, but some you can't - such as the white on black/black on white text colour.
But you can only (using the tick boxes I mentioned) opt to stay with the day part of the scheme for both day and night.
You cannot select the "night" part of the scheme for use in daytime for example. |
