Nice to be back on the TomTom forum where more people means quicker answers! Bit lonely on the Becker or IGo one at times!
I have downloaded TomTom Speed camera files and am going to put them on the unit tonight. Also have a voice set as well. How do I disable the TomTom Live ones so i don't get two lots of warnings and icons etc? If I remember rightly, on a previous Tomtom and on the Garmin and Becker, you could deselect them in the POI section but i cannot find the same.
Probably something obvious.......
Doug

Sorry, it's a 950.

Which device do you have? Is it a LIVE x40 or x50 model?

Ok,

Main Menu, page 3 of 3

Live Services - Safety Alerts - Disable Alerts

This will stop ALL Tomtom Safety alerts though!

Thanks. That's a bit drastic! Is there some way of removing the files from the map file instead?

A bit drastic? Confused Not sure what you mean by that.

It only stops the alerts from being announced. Doesn't delete them and TT Home will still update them.

IMHO thats a much LESS drastic solution to deleting files directly on the device!

Okay, will give that a go. Just trying to think of some of the other alerts it might silence that I might need. Going to be a bit of trial and error.
Anyway, thanks for the info, much appreciated.

The only other alerts you'll lose are things like bad weather - fog etc. but you very rarely hear them.
If you want to delete the files instead, they're pretty easy to find... UK ones are:
Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_UK_PremiumOv2.ver

and there are lots of European ones with names like:
Autovelox_IT_TomTom
Blitzer_AT_TomTom.ov2 (and CZ, DE etc.)
Fartkamera_SE_TomTom.ov2 - (yeah, I know!)
Fartsboks_NO_TomTom.ov2
Flitspaal_NL_TomTom.ov2
Kamerat_FI_TomTom.ov2
Radar_BE_TomTom.ov2
You might also have the European premium camera files: Safety_Cam_DE_Premium.ov2.dct (and FR, NL etc.)

Thanks Andy. One other question - on the 950, when setting up a proper voice, I put the voice files in the map folder but on going through the options to set up the distances, I couldn't find the option to match the voice file. If I remember with my 740, there was an option to set a voice file to the warning.
Just read some instruction on the voice file page - on the 950 Live, do these go in the map folder with the camera files or do they go in the Sounds folder?
Another question on mapping please? When I connected my unit to the TomTom home, it said both my maps, Europe and North America, needed updating and started to download the Europe one. Three hours later, when this one was complete or almost complete, it said there was a server error and it could not install the maps. Now on logging into Home, it does not offer me the updates even though they did not complete. I have Europe V8.35.2429 and North America V835.2419. Are these the latest already or am I going to lost this free update because I believe I only have 30 days to do this?
Thanks
Doug

Doug, the latest maps are v840 for both the European and North American, give TomTom CS a ring on 0845 161 0009 as they will be able to add the map to your account once you show them proof of purchase (e-mail a digital picture/ scan of the receipt etc) - Mike

Either.... both methods should work, and both have small advantages and disadvantages.

If you put them in the map folder, they MUST have the same name as the camera data files (apart from the three letter extension). The system SHOULD then pick up the sound automatically WITHOUT you choosing it.
Sometimes this confuses people and sometimes (very rarely) it just doesn't work.

The other method is to put them in the sounds folder, and then you can select them from the sound Fx menu as normal. I think this is a more logical method, but the default names of the voice files are so long that you only get to see "PocketGPS..." on screen for every one - the relevant bit of the name is at the end!
You can either live with it - you learn what order they're in after a while, or you can quickly rename all the files to put the important bit "gatso-30" or whatever, first.
At least with this method, you can hear the sound filel before you assign it.

Thanks, Mike, tried to ring but was 13th in the queue!! Sent a support email instead.
Thanks, as well Andy, will do the latter I think. Strange how quickly you forget how to do things with one system after using another for even a short while.

Did notice that TomTom seem to have gone backward with the 950 Live series as I only have one text to speech voice (Jane) on there and I could not find any additional ones on TT Home. I got no CD so are there any additional voices or have i missed something? No Aussie or American ones either!!!

You can get them for free via Tomtom Home. Add voices is a selection in Home!
