My TomTom start uses POI files in the format .tlv.

All the poi files I download are .ov2

How do I use them?

Thanks

It's ok I've worked it out - they don't go in the POI folder, they go in the folder 'United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland'.

The .tlv file is not the POI file, it is only a "marker file" used by Home to keep track of POIs it has downloaded.

All TomToms use the .ov2 file format for the POIs.
Unfortunately the "Start" is very limited in what it can actually *do* with POIs!

Not sure what you mean when you say the start is limited but it is working now with the ov2 file.

Unlike all the other TomTom devices, it can only "navigate to" the POI.

The others can show them on the map and (importantly for the speed camera database from this site) can warn you when you are approaching them.

Not true - you can tell it which POIs you want visble on the map.

The speed camera database supplied by TomTom also flags up cameras as they are approached with an audio and visual warning.

I'll take your word on it - I'm just going by what I've read in the forum.

TomTom's camera database are not dealt with as POIs as such but in their own section. Can it show 3rd party POIs on the map then or is it just the in-built ones?

POI's do NOT show in Driving View on the Start, only in Browse Map view. That is my understanding.... and how it was when I tested the model.

And there is no "Warn when near" feature, for POIs, making the use of the camera database from this site impossible on this model..
