Discount most of what has been offered in the e-mail as your Live services are working with the exception of Google search, I checked Google on one of my units earlier this morning and it was working so the server is OK this morning.
Discount the low battery charge theory as a low battery will kill the GPRS modem offering you no Live services at all, the unit shuts off the modem when the battery goes low to prolong duration that you can use the device for.
As for the updates/ resets/ restore factory settings, if you have an hour or two to waste then feel free to try it, I know you will only end up more frustrated after wasting an hour or two and ending up in the same position.

Check the status of your Live services as each service should have an expiry date against it, assuming this is showing subscribed give them another ring and state "ALL Live Services EXCEPT Google search are working on my device, this has occured since taking out a 12 month subscription can you please check my account details"

It might be worth having the device IMEI, Sim ID and status to hand when you phone them - Mike

I rang them last night. Apparantly this is a known but intermittent problem "with the servers" as other people have reported this fault; there's no ETA of a fix.

They are suggesting a full factory reset (with backup first using Explorer) may help in certain circumstances.

I have had this same problem intermittently for about a week now.

This is with a whole host of different Navcores, some designed for my device and others not.

Resets, reformats, reloads etc make absolutely no difference.

Sometimes it will work and then an hour later the red screen and the unable to establish a wireless data connection error.

All other LIVE services are working fine when the error occurs.

Looks like yet another LIVE services cock up by TT or Voda.

Hi Guys,

Just to clarify I have a TT940, all my live services are working correctly except Google.

As some have said, sometimes it works, then 5 minutes later it does not.

I've just made mine work (it wasn't, several minutes ago), by doing a hard reset. Search for Fish and Chips in Keynsham comes up with half a dozen.

So I've switched off and on again and tried it again, but this time Search near me for Fish and Chips and got message "Could not establish a wireless data connection..."

Tried another hard reset and it didn't work. Evil or Very Mad

Same here. No need to reboot/play around with devices, it's just not working properly.

Email from TomTom Customer Services regarding this issue...
"I received word back from the technical department regarding the issue with Google search. They have reported this problem to the developers. Unfortunately for the time being there is no solution to this problem, but they are continuing to look into it.
I apologise for the inconvenience."

I asked about compensation for the loss of a Premium Service and the reply was...
"Once this problem has been resolved, we can look into compensation for this. Currently there is no point in compensating you for time lost while the issue is still current."

I will keep you all posted!

Mine worked twice today and failed twice too - various locations driving between here and Hayle in Cornwall.

I am greatly comforted by the knowledge that the developers (is that the people who developed it?) have no solution to this problem, but they are continuing to look into it. I was, however, disappointed to see it only qualifying as an issue - I wonder how we can get it upgraded to a challenge?

I wish Mike or Andy (preferably both!) would go get a job there.

Same again today. As I left home, I googled for Sovereign Housing in Newbury and got no connection. As I pulled off the M4 at Junction 13 I tried again (after a reset) and up it popped, just like that. Might it have been the presence right there of Vodafone HQ? Just tried the same search - red screen!!

Got no Google here either.

They finally got HD Traffic sort-of-working, I guess something else had to give!

So I just tried mine again. Red screen. Reset and it then found all my local fish and chips, then found Sovereign Housing in Newbury. So I've quit whilst I'm ahead and switched off (well, I can't think of anything else to Google apart from Santa).

OK, so I switched it back on again and searched near me for Santa. Red screen. So I reset and tried Santa again and it came up with two (neither of them were on my roof).

Well I got the usual standard first line response about reloading from backup and resetting and trying again - shame they didn't read my ticket where I told them I had done all of that already!

As per the HD Traffic fiasco TT want date and time info of when it doesn't work.

Time to collect a few screenshots ........
