wowo this is really happening -- downloaded a label to send the 740L back to Hertogenbosch..

If you haven't already packed and sealed it up, take a win explorer backup before you do and then delete all your own POIs from it. You wouldn't want TT to tell you the problem is because you loaded it with third party POIs instead of TT ones, would you?

are there later maps of Europe for the 740L

Just read that it might ake TEN days to find its way home to here??

Your map is (was) extremely out of date. Since 810 there have been 815, 825 and 830 and the latest is 840.

do you think that is why it went wrong ???

drifting of road etc -- when I spoke to Support that said this was a map problem..

wonder if it started the others?

just looked at its progress across Europe...
been to NORTHAMPTON
BARKING
and arrived in BRUSSELS at 6.01
great these tracking devices...
Happy Holidays..

No, I can't see that being the problem. Sounds like a very sick device perhaps.

I wonder what they'll say about your POIs and I hope to goodness it didn't have the pgpsw speed camera database on it!

What would be the problem if it did have the database on it ???

It would make that copy of the database accessible to unauthorised person/s. You can bet TomTom would be happy to get a copy. That would be bad enough, but worst case scenario is "somebody" passes it out to the pirate sites and we then pick that up and ban Fibre for letting his download get into the wrong hands.

The database should be removed from any device before it goes out of "your" possession, even for repair.

Seriously, Dennis......

You don't think TT has already registered here as a user, subscribed, paid the few pounds and gotten the PGPSW file?

Hmm. Good question. I suppose I would in their place. But if they had, "their" database would be above criticism - and it isn't!

Agreed, if the device was in an operable condition.

What would be the case if the TT was stuffed in that it would not turn on, either with battery or charger power? It would not be possible to remove the database in that instance, despite one's best efforts.

What would your take be on that and that of the officers of Pocket GPS World?

But what if Fibre has already passed it to the pirates, and this whole thread is just an elaborate alibi? Wink

They're neither monsters nor Jobsworths, so I'm sure if they were satisfied on that point, they'd behave as you'd expect. Shoot first and ask questions later!

cliffbrown tap the satellite signal bars at bottom right, then tap the version number and go to the next page which shows all sorts of things including map version - latest map version is 840.xxxx.
