Hi all,
Now that the advice from Mike and reading a few other posts makes me think I have made the right choice in ordering a new TT Go 940, I am now wondering what I should to it when Amazon get around to delivering it.
I know I will want to :-
Upgrade to navcore 9
Update the maps
Install POIs
Install the Pocket GPS camera database
Activate the 3 month Live trial
What I am less sure about is what is the best sequence to do this. I am thinking it should be done in the above order, but would welcome confirmation. I also wonder if there is a definitive guide to installing Navcore 9 on a 940 as it seems from reading the Navcore 9 on a 940 thread that you need to know what you are doing. If not, then I will read through that thread carefully and try to construct a list, but as I am new to anything more modern than a Go 700 I thought I would see if anyone has already put something together.
Also, if I get it wrong and have to step back, will I lose the map update given it is a one shot opportunity to update them. Also, it might be nice to see the unit working with LIVE services before upgrading to navcore 9, if I activate LIVE and then upgrade to Navcore 9, will I lose LIVE services?
Thanks,
Andy |

First step before you do anything is take a full backup with Windows Explorer (see FAQ).
Your LIVE trial starts as soon as you power your device on.
I would do this:
Full Windows Explorer Backup.
Connect to HOME and upate to the latest application HOME offers you, along with any other updates eg voices BUT don't bother with Mapshare updates
Take another full backup
Now use Latest Map Guarantee to get your latest map(s)
Log a call with TT as you probably won't get offered the upgrade for your US map
Take another full backup
Have a good play and get used to it
Now try Navcore 9 - if it doesn't work you can go back to your backup - don't upgrade the bootloader (don't copy the system file over from the Navcore 9 cab) |

One thing I have wondered about is the trial on a Go940 using V9. Will TT think it is a Go950 and only offer 1 months trial? I only ask as the list of My Live Services on a Go940 using V9 is not normal but they do all work. _________________ Drivelux |
