How do I disable HD traffic

Sometimes I want to switch off traffic e.g. when in London at rush hour and starting a journey TT keeps recalculating due to changing traffic and never actually makes up its mind on a route for ages, leaving me stuck not even able to move off in approximately the right direction. Also, sometimes I just don't believe it and just want to know the basic fastest route ignoring traffic.
However, I can't actually see how to do it via preferences.

No real need to turn it off.

You can change the Traffic Preferences (TomTom Services, Traffic Preferences, or via the traffic bar).

I have mine set to beep when there's a change to traffic, but in the next screen I've checked "Ask me if I want that route" (I'd guess yours is checked to "Always switch to that route"). That way I can say NO. The grindingly slow recalculation drives me up the wall too, so I rarely accept it when the situation is hairy, but I'd prefer to have the choice rather than turn it off completely - you could check "Never change my route", but that would never give you the chance.

Wish list - get TomTom to recalculate as fast as it used to.

PS - Another solution is to join my club and get another three devices to run alongside it!!
