|
|
Having changed gps systems twice and computer once I have lost the link to the help/information file which gives the correct way of altering ogg files with audacity for the tomtom1. I recall there was a complete downloadable database of files required for the various cameras and the instructions.
Can anyone help please |

Our collection of .ogg file voice alerts is here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/speed-camera-alerts-tomtom.php
If any of those take your fancy, there's no need to use Audacity (or any other audio editor) to change them, they will work straight away on your TomTom. There are some instructions at the bottom of that page
If you do want to modify them with Audacity, I don't remember seeing any help files on here about it, but if you say what you want to do, and an idea of how much you can do already, I can give you some tips. |

Many thanks for your reply Andy_P
I recall that I downloaded a complete database of the ogg files and opened each one in audacity, altered the file, but cannot remember the sequence of saving the file as an ogg ready for inserting in TT.
Any help would be gratefully accepted.
I have successfully done it in the past and injected a bit of humour into the warning which makes driving less boring

1. Download the voice set you want from the link above, and unzip the files (right click and "extract all" if you are using Windows). Save them somewhere you can find them again.
2. Run Audacity and use File/Open to load each of the PocketGPSWorld ogg files in turn
3. Make whatever changes you want to do, and then (this is the slightly odd thing with Audacity) you use File/Export as... (rather then "Save as..") to re-save each one with the same name (maybe into a new folder so as not to overwrite the originals?).
4. Load them onto the TomTom as per the instructions on the original download page.
That any good? |

Many thanks for your advise Andy_P
Have re recorded all files and saved them and placed in map folder on gps. As soon as the weather changes I will send the wife out on her bike to test the warnings (only joking!)
Will advise as to whether they have worked ok in a post tomorrow.
again
Many thanks |

Cool....
Now I'll let you into a totally irrelevant secret.
All this time I couldn't see that your avitar was a bird on a branch.
To me it was a four-legged spider or bug under a microscope! |
