Many years ago on a Toshiba laptop repair course the examiner came round at the end to check that you had no screws left over when you had put the laptop back together.
It was like a scene from The Great Escape with people wondering round the room trying to drop screws down the inside of their trousers so that they passed the exam and didn't have to completely take a laptop apart for two screws they forgot to put in somewhere along the way! |

Statements like this from any company amaze me. No company has every asked me anything about the products or features of products that I own and use and I do not know of anyone else that has ever been asked either.
Makes me angry.

Nothing to do with the fact that they didn't work reliably then ........ |

I wonder why the jukebox does not work on the 950 as the 950 software installed on a 940 has the jukebox function. I know the FM does not work as the 950 does not have the FM board, but I wonder if there is any other hardware missing on the 950? _________________ Drivelux |

Looking at how the Navcore (various versions) react on the different devices I would think the software looks at the device type (read from the firmware and not modifiable by an owner) it then loads up the applicable menu complete with the relevant options.
We used to be able to get around some of these limitations by running a custom menu (Itinerary planning on the One Third Edition for example) but since then TomTom seem to have coded up the device type in a far more stringent way - Mike |

I have managed to get Navcore 9 to enable the jukebox, and probably explains why the 950 software worked on your 940.
The key to getting this to work is a file mp3d in the \bin directory, I'm guessing that you applied the 950 software over the top of your 940 which resulted in the mp3d being available.
I have manually added mp3d and it worked well, but in later versions of Navcore 9 it doesn't appear to work. Maybe worth testing this in more detail. |

Which Navcore version have you managed to get the mp3 option working with on an x50 as that is rather interesting? - Mike |

I have the mp3d in my bin directory dated 17 Nov 2009. _________________ Drivelux |

Speedcam - Are you talking about getting Navcore 9 working AND keeping the Jukebox working on a 940?
.....or getting the jukebox to work with Navcore 9 on a 950?

Mr T - are you just confirming you have the mp3d file on a 940 |

Yes I have this file on a 940 running application 9.026 (for the 950) and the jukebox works. _________________ Drivelux |

Great that you have confirmed that this does work, I'd only tested this using a 740 not a 940.
Yes, before anyone asks it is possible on a 740 but requires a patched version of the Navcore, and for obvious reasons I will not post a link. |

It's going to be interesting when TomTom release the Navcore update for x40 devices as this will mean that the 940 will have a better specification than the flagship 950. Both devices will be running the same Navcore v9 but the 940 will have MP3 & FM transmitter. |

How long is it to the next major trade show for the industry? a few weeks or a month or two, my guess would be something like an x60 range with all the bells and whistles announced prior to the release of any official Navcore 9 for the x40 range (I might be wrong though) - Mike |
