Yes the 950 does work, I have had no issues with it, and now with it being released for purchase, I thought I would mention that this particular postcode issue seems to have been addressed at least for this model.
No idea why this issue exists, as it seems like it HAS been there on other models and then removed in an application update! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

This is like several other software 'features' that could be corrected, but don't....
For example, on recent software versions the highlighting on screen when you tap to select an item is fine on an x40, but so dark on an x20 it makes the text unreadable.
I think it is just down to not enough software engineers working on the problems. |

How so? This change to not being able to navigate without entering a building number is a change, not an existing bug. In other words, a software engineer has either added or removed something - I wouldn't imagine for a moment that a new Navcore is written from the ground up, allowing a shortage of software engineers to mean that part wasn't written or was simply written differently. _________________ Dennis

Yes, that was a new "feature" but my point was that once an issue like this has been pointed out, it then takes forever for it to be corrected, if it ever is. |

See my previous quotations from my correspondence with TomTom. I just received two emails (timed several hours ago!). The first says he doesn't have an answer and has referred it to 2nd line.
The second says.....
Quote: | Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Care
The reference number for your query is 091031-228874.
My technical team have confirmed that there has been a change to the software so when navigating to a postcode using the latest software application, you will need to select a house number.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to change this at the moment with the current software available for your device however they have noted your feedback and will pass it on to the relevant software developers.
With Kind Regards
Ash

Well, I can't do anything about my XL Live which doesn't have an SD card slot and presumably won't run with earlier Navcore versions (although I'd happily give it a whirl). But I do have a solution when I eventually register and update my new GO520, which will suffer the same fate when it updates to Navcore 8.351. I'll simply use my spare SDHC card with Navcore 8.302 on it!
At least we know that with Navcore 9 we'll be able to navigate to "anywhere" on a road, instead of "somewhere".
falkirk81 could you try navigating to W2 1QS "anywhere" and see where it puts you on St Michaels Street please? _________________ Dennis
