I seem to recall reading somewhere not to exeed instalation of over 85 points of interest.
However i need to install both UK & European speed cams from this site,when i look in Tomtom home it lists 95 Points of interest most of them speedcams.
So having both UK & Euro speedcams installed does it mean i can't realy install any other points of interest ?

| What device and which Navcore version have you got instaqlled, the Gox20, x30 and x40 devices can all accept up to 169 custom POI categories, whether this applies to all the different One and XL devices as well I am not too sure - Mike |

i think the limit depends on what verison of the tomtom software (navcore) you are running. more recent versions can handle 200+ POIs.
to see the software version tap the satellite signal meter; the the software version number should be displayed.

Thanks both it's a go 730 with navcore 8.351, however i am thinking of going back to navcore 8.320.9901 because of low sound level issues and i am off to Spain in 2 weeks.
So i can keep adding POi's

I was about to shout "No they can't... it's still 169", but I thought I'd better check first.
Using my set of 351 test POIs I loaded them all onto a Go940 running Navcore v8.370 and sure enough it managed to load 250 of them!
I wonder when it changed again?
If anyone wants to try the test for themselves, to see what it's like for their TomTom model and software, it's quite easy to try out....
1. First use Windows Explorer to remove ALL the .ov2 POI files from the map folder of your device (Copy them to somewhere safe on your PC so you can put them back at the end). You can leave the .bmp icon files for this experiment.
2. Download my set of 351 numbered "dummy" POI files from HERE and unzip them. You should get a whole heap of files called 001.ov2 and 001.bmp right upto 351.ov2 and 351.bmp.
3. Copy them all into your map folder
The TomTom will load SOME but not all of them, as you'll be able to see if you look on the "Show POI on map" screen.
Unfortunately, the TomTom software doesn't always load them sequentially, so you can't just look at the highest number to see how many it loaded.
For example, on my latest test, it loaded POIs number 006 to 255, making a total of 250.
Finally, using Windows Explorer again, delete all the numbered test files and replace your original .ov2 files from wherever you saved them on the PC.
I'd be interested to see anyone else's results for different models/software versions. |
