Thinking of buying one of these but have a quick question. Looks like the maps are installed inside this device not on an SD card so will I be able to add my own poi's and speedcam data?

There is plenty of space on the device to accept small POI files, even 90 to 100 custom POI files will fit with ease and each custom POI category can contain thousands of individual locations and phone numbers. Even a few custom voice files can ce added without any real problems.

The only issue is should you decide at some future point to install a USA/ North American map then you might have some issues depending upon which device you purchase, if its just for UK based work then the regional UK&ROI device will be fine, if you think you also need European mapping then get that map with the device when you purchase it - Mike

Thanks. I also have the chance of a ONE XL EUROPE v1 which uses an SD card for the maps so presumably that would have more room if I put a bigger card in? Would also allow me to swap maps more easily?

The older unit does offer the slight additional fleibility to swap map files but to be honest I would go with the newer device as its got a better chance of software updates rather than just new map releases, some of the older TomTom products don't seem to be getting application updates too often these days - Mike

That one's got the larger screen though Smile

Would the large 1.2Gb WE maps fit the V4 then?

They might well fit on the V4 device but unless it was the IQ Routes version I doubt you would get offered the larger maps by the Home software, I had a One V4 IQ Routes UK spec device for a day or two last week and it was equipped with 2GB of internal storage much to my surprise - Mike

Perhaps it's because they don't try to be "all singing, all dancing", so tend to be less buggy. Wink
