I've been using my IO Play for a couple of weeks, and would like to get the phone bluetooth (for phone calls) and the dongle bluetooth (for ipod track control) active at the same time.
Has anyone managed to get this to work? |

My understanding is that Apple haven't enabled the relevant part of Bluetooth that permits control, hence it doesn't work. Hopefully they'll update it in an upgrade. |

AVRCP was the acronym I was trying to remember. |

If its the iO-Play dongle that you have connected to the iPhone then it should enable AVRPC it certainly does on my 3G iPhone - Mike |

It is the IO PLAY dongle that I have, but that doesn't allow phone calls to be handled through the IO PLAY on it's own. I'm assuming that I need the iphone Bluetooth enabled for that? |

Yes you do need the BT active on the phone with the iPhone paired up to the iO-Play device, to be honest pre OS3 the dongle had far greater value as it added both A2DP and AVRCP but with OS3 and newer the A2DP is within the phone so the dongle only adds AVRCP which I don't really find a use for as my Navigation application can control the iPOD functions from within the Nav screen - Mike |

I'm holding out for the next Co-Pilot release, which should include the ipod controls.
In the meantime; I found that I need to disable BT on the iphone, then insert the external dongle. I then start the car engine, and then enable BT on the iphone.
This seems to be the way to get the phone and ipod controls, via the IO PLAY console. |
