Can anyone tell me if I can load speed camera sounds onto my XL IQ Live as the XL only has those annoying stardard sounds

Yes you can.

But for who's camera database, the one from this site or TomTom's own?

The PGPSW database is loaded as several, standard POI files, so voices can be added in either of two different ways:

1. by adding sound files in .ogg format to the map folder. The files need to have the same name as each camera data file, and they are then selected automatically (by an undocumented "cludge") when you go through the "warn when near" set-up for each camera type and speed.

2. by adding sound files (.ogg or .wav format, but not .mp3) to the "sounds" folder. They will then get added to the normal sound effects menu, so you can select them in the normal way, one for each camera type and speed.

Several pre-made voice "packs" are available for free from this site.


TomTom's own database can also have voice alerts or other sounds added, (only) by using method 2 above, BUT there's one big disadvantage... they aren't set up by individual speeds, so you can't have a different voice alert for each speed, only each camera type.

That's one of the BIG pluses of the PGPSW data.
