Think I've got a major problem I have just bought a Rider V1 off Ebay. It came this morning and everything was working fine until i went to update it on home (2.7)
It said I needed the new version of Home and I did and no the rider doesn't recognise the card at all now, I tried to put it into my Go300 and that see it as a rider card but doesn't show any maps.
When I connect the rider (with or without card) to home it doesn't recognise the unit at all.
Thanks in advance

What software is on the RIDER card? IIRC there are different versions of HOME depending on the unit software. _________________ Tim |

Not sure, where would I find it? I can access the card by reader but it just shows the wrong card when I start the rider unit.

Really don't want to fork out £40 for a new card |

Is there any way I could just copy someone else's Rider card? and replace the stuff on my knackered Rider memory card? Is that even legal? I'm sure it would be if I own the card that came with the unit
This is what comes up when I put the Rider card in a reader

Hobbesy, sorry I do not know the answer to your immediate question BUT i strongly suggest opening a new account with TomTom with a brand new e-mail address (get a free one from yahoo, gmail, etc, or make one up) just for your new TTrider. Keep your TT300 account out of the equation. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Hi already done it and it still tells me that the memory card I am putting in comes from a go 300
Its even trying to back to my old email address even though I'm logged on with a complete new one. |

I'm sure there has to be some confusion here....
Are you sure there's nothing missing in your sequence of events:
1. you had a Rider that worked,
2. then you JUST updated Home,
3. then the Rider didn't recognise the card at all.
And it just seems too much of a co-incidence that you put the Rider card in a Go300 and now Home thinks THAT card is from a Go300.
Are you absolutely sure you haven't mixed up the cards or tried updating via Home while the wrong one ws in a machine?
I would find the combination that makes your Go300 work OK, then PUT IT AWAY.
You say that Home told you to update to the new version... so you started off with Home v1?
If the software on the Rider was very old, you would need to update as far as you could with Home v1 and only then switch to Home v2 and update further.
Home v1 is still available from this TomTom webpage
http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16&tab=87
(small, easily missed link below the main ones).
Can you see the contents of the card on your PC when you connect the Rider to it or if you put the card in a card reader?
If so, copy EVERYTHING on the card to somewhere safe so you have a backup.
Then delete all the loose files on the Rider card itself (NOT any of the folders or their contents) and try connecting to Home again (logged in with the NEW account you've created |

hobbesy, I still know nothing about TTrider but I have a few questions for you hoping that most TT's function the same.
1) Did you make a back up of your Rider before attempting to update it? If yes, did you use Windows Explorer or TTHome?.
2) What have/are you updating?. a) TomTomHome, b) Rider Navcore, c) Maps d) a combination? and what has actually changed to get you to this situation?
3) TomTom have brought out new TTHome and new Maps recently. Other owners are reporting problems elsewhere on this forum in the TTHome section and the TomTom PND setion. Are you reading these topics? and does anything sound familiar to your situation. There are people replying in those topics who are much more qualified than I.
EDIT - 1) Good, Andy_P is here
2) Is your Rider brand new or previously used? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Well you are a god
I did what you said and deleted the odd files but I also downloaded Home 1.6 and as soon as I connected the Rider it was found. I updated the unit and everything seems to be working fine now.
I now have a working memory card (and a back up) and am so happy, any idea how old the maps are? v6.612.0
Thanks for all the help from everyone |

hobbesy, congratulations.
For security reasons you may want to remove the image of TTHome you uploaded. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
