Just a note on the Sygic - for all its bells & whistles, compared to my 7 or 8 (?) year-old iQue 3600, it lasted a week in the car before I went back to the Garmin. The final straw being that it crashed & lost not only all its POIs, but also killed every other app in the iPhone except the Apple ones & needed a Restore before I could do anything but phone from it.
Before that happened, though... Having to find a contact in a list of other 'helpful' POIs every time is just too slow. You can either have all user POIs in 'Favourites' or stuck in the list with everything else - can't even add a space before your own categories to file them to the top.
I'm too used to being able to put all my day's visits into the diary, then just open the day's diary page & navigate to the next appointment. The only time I look for POIs is when I'm setting up my journeys, the weekend before - after that, press/q & I'm off, in 2 keystrokes.
Until these new devices can do that, It's back to the Garmin. |

Please update the NAVIGON data after the 1.1.0 update the following has been added;
Call a POI
Routeplanning
iPod control - you just have to tap Homebutton twice and you get to the iPod control within any app.
While the navigation commands are on the app. fades the iPod sound. |

It's great having a list for the iPhone, but how about a list for Android and Symbian ? _________________ Wayne

Wayne, have you any idea how long the iPhone app list took to compile? we have plans for a PPC comparison chart at some future point and possibly an Android one but the MS SmartPhone (non touch screen) might be a tad difficult as I don't know anyone with such a device loaded with multiple applications - Same applies to the Nokia devices - Mike |

I fully understand the magnitude of work involved. I understand why you picked the iPhone as most of your team have them
I have have a Nokia and have a few sat nav apps loaded, so can help there. As for the android I am looking at the HTC Hero so will glad fully offer my help. _________________ Wayne

Please feel free as the comparison lists are very useful for any forum member to do a quick cross check between different navigation applications, anything in a similar format would be most welcome, you can e-mail them over once complete - Mike |

It says tomtom never to be released for the iphone. I've used the Beta for 8 months, and it is now RTM. I should get the RTM this week. _________________ Mr.G

Outside of US CoPilot maybe using Navteq but in US they seem to unfortunately use their own ALK maps. At least is seems so from their site. And this shows judging by CoPilot reviews on iTunes. Major complaints are map quality with ridiculous omissions like people not able to find their own homes in well established and populated areas. This continues to drag down CoPilot overall rating. Otherwise it has rather favorable opinions. If not for maps issue CoPilot probably would have been best rated among full fledged Nav software for iPhone. |

Very useful, thanks.
A couple of points on Navigon. I have the US version 1.1.0 and it does have avoids/detours.
Also, time to launch on my iPhone 3GS is 6 secs, not 23secs? |

Yes me may need to clarify the hardware here as the launch time will be very different between 3G and 3GS. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Please consider adding G-Map into the comparisons, thanks. Although it's limited to North America, it's been out now for over 6 months and does have a following.
