Hello everyone,

can someone please provide me with the exact csv format for the pocketgpsworld safetycam file? The reason i ask this, is that the pgps database is of little use to me since I live in Greece and the db has only a minor subset of the greek cams/radars etc so I hope to gather as many cam-pois from the greek sites and use the pgps csv format (which from what I've read so far must be pretty good and effective for CP ) to build a master file for my CP7.

I admit that I dont want to spend the $ to buy the whole db, when all that I need is just one single line of it containing the correct format to use and a description of the fields.

Thanks to everyone

Nikos

Well that was a very rapid response "Pocketgps" thank you!

You mean that there are only 3 fields, Longitude,Latitude,Name ?

I recall reading in the forum that the csv for the CP7 also contains heading-infos for the cameras which CP uses to warn only when you're driving towards the camera's "view". Is this correct and if so then wouldnt the correct format be needing more than 3 fields?

And what about the first character being a "minus" is this a must?

Sorry for bombing you with all these questions but im a GPS rookie so please bear with me.

Thank you

Sorry, that was just a general csv poi file.

Camera,Speed,Heading,Longitude,Latitude,Type
Gatso:001,xx,xxx,-x.xxxxx,xx.xxxxx,A
Gatso:002,xx,xxx,-x.xxxxx,xx.xxxxx,A

etc

Please do join PGPSW. You can then help to add more cameras for Greece Laughing

Hi MaFt,

kudos on the job you guys are doing here btw. I found lots of info on various matters.

No I havent looked at the map cause I havent subscsribed as I mentioned, but from the countries brakedown I read :

Europe - Greece Active: Gatso 116
Europe - Greece Active: Mobile 10
Europe - Greece Active: RedSpeed 1
Europe - Greece Pending: Mobile 1

when the numbers I have are around the 1000 sum

If you wish I can somehow send these tables in csv format with latin characters in the description field instead of greek.

On a side note regarding the format PocketsGps kindly provided may I ask what the minus (-) in the longitude stands for and why its needed?

Also which of the fields in

Camera,Speed,Heading,Longitude,Latitude,Type

Gatso:001,xx,xxx,-x.xxxxx,xx.xxxxx,A
Gatso:002,xx,xxx,-x.xxxxx,xx.xxxxx,A

do they have to be included in " "?

Does it matter?

Im always talking about CP7 specific format and the prerequisite is that the outcome will be the safetycam pois being integrated exactly like that..safety cams pois and not custom pois or anything else.

Thank you for your feedback and let me know about the greek data if you want to integrate them in the db

the '-' is needed for south or west coordinates otherwise it isn't needed.

regarding camera locations, if they are locations you have collected yourself then yes, feel free to submit or email them. if they are from other sites then we would need to contact them directly to ask for permission to use their data.

thanks

Hi MaFt thanks for the clarification.

And can you please tell me when and if the " " doublequoting is needed in some of the fields so I can make the proper modifications?

Regarding the greek data most are gathered from a greek community site
where these are freely available to the users and updated by their feedback.

The code is as I posted. You do not need to use " " at all.

Camera,Speed,Heading,Longitude,Latitude,Type
Gatso:001,xx,xxx,-x.xxxxx,xx.xxxxx,A

If say you leave the Heading blank, then it would look like this etc

Camera,Speed,Heading,Longitude,Latitude,Type
Gatso:001,xx,,-x.xxxxx,xx.xxxxx,A

You can create the file using Notepad, then just change the file extension from .txt to .csv and it will work.

Just try one location, next to your home as a trial.

Hi Pocketgps, thanks for your feedback once more.

Yes heading will have to left blank in my case so the ,, explains it perfect since from the data I gathered so far I would expect a "" for a blank field.

Thanks for clearing this up for me cause Im really concerned after all the reading/research on CP7 and poi-integration (not getting integrated in a proper/usuful way)

*But*...now you raised another question Very Happy

You say "dont forget the icon" but I was expecting to not use my own icon.. since if I have gotten things right up to now..using the pgpsw csv format for CP7, cam pois will get integrated as "normal" CP7 cam-points (transparently from CP7's point of view) and the result will be that CP7 will be displaying its own icon for these newly integrated pois.

Am I wrong in the above? Am I missing something?

Also if im not mistaken Ive read that one can not use his own custom icons for pois nomatter if its safetycamera hotels or whatever

Please shine a light here

Thanks

Nikos

Cheers! thanks MaFt, Pocketgps for setting my mind in peace cause i was starting to question my memory skills now

Anyone knows what the last field is used for? I mean the A at the end. Whats its use and what other values are there for it?

Also, regarding field #1 GATSO:001 GATSO:002 etc...is this there only for internal use of CP7 or does it also output these values to the screen when one approaches GATSO1's cooordinates?

Finally where could someone insert a description of each camera so that it will be output to the screen appropriately? (i mean ie for GATSO:001 which lets say is near place "XJHBHJKNG next to Mcdonald's" where does one put the "XJHBHJKNG next to Mcdonald's" so that it gets output to the screen?

Thanks (getting closer to final test now and cant wait)

no idea, but it needs it! Laughing Out Loud. it could be a marker to tell CP7 to use it as a speed camera rather than normal poi?

if you press the icon on the map it will show the information in a pop up window.

anyway, enough of all this technical mumbo-jumbo - when are you going to be submitting your local cameras to our database?! once verified you would get a free subscription for life.
