I've downloaded some POI's from this website, but can't work out how to get them onto my Satnav, I have a Mio 269+ which has Mio Map 3.2 installed on an SD card.

I've spent the last couple of hour's scouring the net but can't seem to find anything relevent, found many posts which mention a igo.db file, but I can't find that on the SD card.

Any idea's please?

I use a program called POI Explorer for my iGO 6. But have a look at this web site to see if you can gain any info on how to do it.

HERE (opens in a new window).

Guess I'll have to find my Mio's USB cable and see if this IGO.DB file is stored on the Mio's hard drive - I presumed because all the maps, speed camera's etc are on the SD card that the POI's would be stored on there as well. If I remove the SD card then it reverts back to Mio Map 2.

PS Can't believe they made it this hard to add POI's - should have got a TomTom, I set them up all the time for drivers at work, so easy!

I've unlocked my Mio now and found that IGO file, how do I right click on the desktop to create a shortcut for example?

I seem to be getting there, here's what I did, for future reference.

I unlocked my Mio by following the instructions HERE, they appear to be in a foreign language, but English is also there.

Once unlocked I could then use Windows Explorer on the Mio to navigate to 'My Flash Disc', you'll find the iGO file located here, copy the file - highlight it, click edit:copy at the top. Now navigate to the SD card and paste the file there (edit:paste)

Then take the SD out of your Mio and put it in your computer. Make a backup of your iGO.DB file.

Now download and install iGO POI Explorer

Read this webpage and it should give you enough of an idea on how to import POI's, I just ignored the bits relating to Google Earth and just imported OV2 files downloaded from PocketGPS

Once I'd exported the iGO file back to the SD card I then copied it back to the appropriate location (My Flash Disc) and then on starting Mio Map 3.2 I now had my new POI's Very Happy

PS If you unlock your Mio as above you'll then need to navigate to the relevant programs to start them, I just created a shortcut to Mio Map and pasted it to the desk top, located under Windows\Desktop

Thanks to PocketGPS for pointing me in the right direction in his post above.

When adding a large amount of POIs I have noticed that iGO exporter takes forever to export large files and Windows shows it as not responding - but I noticed that the file size was increasing so left it going.

Then when starting Mio Map 3.2 that also takes a long time - must read and process the iGO file when it starts up.

I've just found that copying the iGO file to the hard drive and working on it from there is quicker than leaving it on the SD card.

Also what is the latest version of iGO POI Exporter, the one I'm using is 1.0.0.637 and titled as a Beta?

Copying the iGO file to your HD will make it a lot quicker to work on.

I have the same version of POI Explorer as you.
