The problem you face is finding an application that will work with your hardware and have the maps for the areas you require, looking at your other post would suggest European and North American and possibly even some New Zealand for while back home.

Co-Pilot Live will work and has maps for America and Europe, not much use when you get home though.

TomTom Navigator 6 will work, again it will be fiiiiine for Europe and North America but the maps are very out of date by now (approaching three years).

TomTom Navigator 7 might work but you won't be able to try it until you purchase it and if it doesn't work TomTom won't be interested as your hardware isn't supported by them. North America, Europe and New Zealand are covered. I would never recommend this application due to the stupid restrictions and get out clauses attached to the purchase - If it works great, if it doesn't you have thrown your money in the bin.

McGuider - Great for Europe, and will work on the iPAQ but no maps for NA or NZ as yet.

To be honest I would consider a PND from TomTom it will work better than your iPAQ and probably cost less than the price of the maps plus software for the iPAQ, you can also use it at home as NZ mapping is available for example Here which is preloaded with European and North American Mapping, it was the top of the range TomTom not that long ago - Mike

thanks Mike,
I am in love with my 4700 and use it daily for a portable computer so I wouldn't need another unit. We are going to Europe and NA next year so I will try co-pilot soft. Thanks, Wayne Christchurch New Zealand. http://skyranger.orconhosting.net.nz
