Is it possible to use the TTS engine on a TomTom 910 and save the resulting spoken audio
I was hoping that the last TTS spoken message may be cached somewhere on the hard disk, but I can't find it for want of trying.
Any pointers would be appreciated

You can save the spoken commands on the PC by connecting the line out socket from the TomTom to the line input on the PC using a 3,5MM stereo lead. Audacity can be used on the PC to record the sound then save it as OGG Vorbis format, name the audio file the same as the coresponding POI file and you have an easy way to use the resultant audio warning on the device.
It will take a few hours to construct a full set of audio files using this method, but I am not aware of any other method capable of doing the same - Mike |

Thanks for the advice guys
I though using the audio out may be the only way.
I had an old windscreen mount that the sucker mechanism broke on, so I made it into a “dongle” so I could access the various 910 outputs on my desk.

Even though the 910 is over 3 years old, the text-to-speech is so natural and realistic it still amazes people who hear my TomTom chatting away in my car that it’s a computer generated voice
Now if I could find out how to modify the windscreen mount and add a USB cable.... _________________ 🔸🔸 Currently using TomTom GO 940 & Locus Map 🔸🔸 |

Thanks for the offer jonial
The windscreen mount I dismantled was one I bought of eBay cheap because it was broken. I originally bought it for a modding project which never got started.
Is it possible to hardwire a USB cable to the windscreen mount or is the USB port being used for something else e.g. Serial I/O for TMC and IPod connectivity etc. _________________ 🔸🔸 Currently using TomTom GO 940 & Locus Map 🔸🔸 |
