Hi - I'm fairly new to Pocket GPS World, and I think there's something I'm missing!

I have a Garmin Nuvi 265w. I can download the camera files OK, but if I then download one of the free POIs - say Travelodge - I'm only offered two choices by the POI Loader. Either I can Override Custom POIs or Remove all Custom POIs.

So, either way, I lose my camera database. Taking the Override Custom POIs option, the Travelodge POI file simple replaces the cameras.

Any advice will be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Welcome!

Put the Travelodge POI file (and any others you want to add) in the same PC folder that you use for the camera files, AND THEN run POI Loader. It should be ok then.

(It's all or nothing - the contents of your PC folder replace ALL 'custom' [your] POIs on the satnav. So you have to have everything you want in that folder.)

you can also use sub-folders to help organise your poi's on the device.

eg:

Code:

pois   <-- main 'root' folder, point poiloader to this
pois/speed cameras/
pois/speed cameras/pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv
pois/speed cameras/pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp
pois/speed cameras/pocketgps_uk_mobile.... etc
pois/accommodation/
pois/accommodation/travelodge.csv
pois/accommodation/travelodge.bmp

point poiloader to the folder 'pois' and then on your nuvi under where to / extras / custom points you will have the 2 folders: speed cameras and accommodation which will make hunting for a specific category easier if you have quite a lot of files to upload!
