I did say that's ONE issue solved.
Trust me, I'm wracking my brains on the other one... it's a "good" problem, if you know what I mean?!
So... using the original card (the one that works except for the icon problem). Can you:
1. back that up again (unless you're sure you've got one of it)
2. remove the software - all the loose files not any of the folders
3. Connect to Home, select "update" and accept the application it suggests.
Or have you done that already on that card? |

I'll give that a go, and report back....
I even tried sticking my ORIGINAL TT SD card back in (the one that came with it when I brought in 2006), and then updating from that - still get the icon problem... |

It just attempts to re-boot, hangs on the Black TT screen, and then switches itself off... |

At which point? Does Home report that it has successfully installed the software?
If you still have the original SD card that came with it and that still works (albeit with the icon problem, can you copy that to the new (non-SDHC) card and get the copy to work?
If so, with that in the machine, connect to Home and update the software again. |

If I delete all the files out of the root directory of the TT that are NOT in directories and re-boot the TT, then get TT Home to update the software, it tells me to download the latest version of the software (I even deleted the copy stored on my computer as instructed earlier), which it does then goes to re-boot the TomTom..
It gets as far as the Black TT screen (black with TT written in White) where it just sits there for a minute before shutting itself down.
If I then re-boot the TT and ask it to download updates, TT Home informs me there are NO more updates for my ONE.
If I boot the TomTom, it'll just stop at the Black Screen and then shut down again.

Did a backup of the WORKING TT...
Put my POI's back in - and the problem returned.....
So, working on my POI's to see which of them is causing the trouble.
-edit-
Found 2 of my POI files were corrupted, so am going back to my first backup, and then deleting the 2 corrupt POI's to see if my TT works with all my corrections and all on..
And it DOES indeed work...
All this for 2 corrupt POI files.....
And i DID run a CHKDSK on my TT before I started...
Once again many thanks to the people that helped on this.... |
