Greetings
I just got myself a SH medion Gopal 205
in exchange for delivering a motorbike I sold
Dunno why
I never worried about getting lost and asking for directions
never bothered me, but I thought it might be fun to play with.

Anyway, after delivering the bike I drove back from Weymouth to
Bristol with cash and me new toy stuck to the windsheild of the van.

Its obviously a budget device, but it works.
It had issues with the route at Yeovil 'she' wanted me to go via the
motorway and I always use the A37.
I got fed up with constant U turn commands and reset the bloody thing
mea culpa, I just put the post code in and didnt specify the
tyoe of route.
Apart from that it was pretty good really and only tried to
send me into a farmyard once.

I figure it cost me 25 quid and cant complian
now the problems start when I get home and get the 4 CD's out

Optimistic fool that I am, I'm expectng a nice little suite of
map tools and swish comms setup so I can tinker with it
Activesync ??? WTF ??
this was all that would install, my laptop doesnt like anything
else on the CD's ( not win32 apps)
the 205 id's itself to the laptop so i guess the USB side works
but actifstink wont connect
I get the windows usb sound and the 205 squawks thassal
the manual is pretty poor on the software side of things
Medions website doesn seem to want to know about these wee gizmos

So, what with gettign hot under the collar with the software and only getting registered here after about 10 attempts
my nickname is an acronym of the phrase i have mostly been using lately
OFFS!!!!!!

Any of you guys got any tips on getting the best out of this thing?
Can I plot a route on autoroute and put in on a SD card
Am I missing anyting ?
I saw a reference to a 'support CD' but dont think I have that
I have 4 CD's
Manual
Map material
More POI
and
Medion Gopal
and a printed manual of course

I have Sd cards about and can format them but do they need any special formatting/folders for the device?

can i update speed camera maps and info?
change the voice ?

any ideas on why it wont connect to activestink?
( not sure what to do with it even if it does TBH)

using Xp pro service pack 2, Comodo firewall and avg free

Thanks

I found I had windows firewall turned on somehow
and it was blocking it
so now its working but I still reckon its a POS.
