Compared to what? It's not bad so long as its the only one available. Lets see how it compares post price hike and with competition!

Probably fairer if you quote Mr Fry in context...

My feeling is that waiting for TomTom is a good idea. Full postcode search & other features missing from Navigon, but it's not bad at all.

It was still the sum up of his review though, and I'm not sure that's the sum up of the other reviews.

Not it wasn't. He was saying don't buy it and you made it look like he was saying go and buy it.

enough of the He said She said nonsense who cares what stephen fry has to say about satnavs anyway. What matters is the quality of the product and your opinions on the product , not somebody else's comments

Darren,

I forget to ask this: Does it uses the compass to orientate the map correctly at the start of the trip likes googlemap does?

I agree with you when you said this software's functionality is too basic.

I would also prefer to see more information displayed on navigation screen: Current speed, time of arrival, remaining distance, and not having to toggle through them to display just one of them at the top bar.

Also, the ability to specify which POI gets warning is important, espcially when approaching schools where special speed limit could be imposed during the school start and end hours.

Not from my observations.

Yeah and still not worth it. in my opinion. slow recalculation on route slow to pick up gps, gps drop outs, voice quality poor, 5 digit postcodes .. i could go on.
If only Apple could get their act together and re-list Sygnic Europe as my trial has run out now. It is a far superior iphone SatNav

Have to agree that if Sygic performs as well on iPhone then it will easily outclass Navigon.

Let's hope Apple pull their finger out and resolve the issue they caused pronto, I'm off to Turkey next week and wanted to trial Sygic's Turkey coverage.

Hmm used this for a few hours to-day on the 3g iphone....

5 minutes or so to locate gps,and then random dropouts, some as long as 10 minutes which made the actual device as a sat nav worthless, hopefully Navigon can rectify this issue in an update some time soon,i take it a refund would be out of the question???

I've had none of those issues on a 3GS. Rock solid and fast to acquire fix but just too basic for me with many features I need omitted.

I'm sure for many as a casual GPS it will suffice.

Same here. The GPS fix is quick and solid. I've been using about a week and done a few hundred miles with it.

Agree it too basic though. Roll on some competition.

I have been using a TomTom 520 for a couple of years it works flawlessly and have never had any of the issues that i have reported using Navigon on the iPhone. I have been running iDA/Sygic side by side with Navigon in my car as I have two iphone 3G. And compared to iDA/Sygic, Navigon is poor slow and unreliable. Its not my location, its not my car, its not my iphone
