Hi all,
Have I lost it ?
Just visited the Navman Europe site.
Quote:-
Detailed Points-of-Interest

SmartST™ Professional comes with a very extensive Points-of-Interest library. If you wish you can tailor this library further by further POIs from the internet such as favored petrol stations, preferred restaurant brands and heritage sights.
Reading many a forum, I was under the understanding that you could not get POI’s for SmartST v2, or am I mistaken. I have looked at the Tele Atlas web site (who supply the mapping for Navman) but cannot find anything related to POI down loads.

Can anyone put me in the picture as to what Navman are on about & if so how?
Regards.

It says "from the internet", not "From TeleAtlas". There are hundreds of thousands of user collected POIs on the net. Some free, some with subscription. You seem to be able to import those into SmartST

Thanks
Lutz Dendlin Thumbs Up
I will start surfing & see what I can come up with & maybe put some links on the POI forum for us Navman users. As it seems somewhat TT biased.” OK, a little bit on individuality”. Laughing
Regards.

The bad news is that I emailed Bruce at Navman and he replied that the quote was 'an oversight' on their part and that the webpage was being edited. That statement has now been removed, though not very well.

Your'e lucky to get a reply. I mailed a query last week and i am still waiting.
I filled out the support form a couple of days ago and I await a reply to that too!

As far as the importing of POIs, not having this feature is a huge oversight! Dont you think Navman should have got the message by now that this is what their customers want??
(It is...isn't it?)

I am one of the chosen Taunt

Now I've probably blown my good relationship with Navman.

In answer to your other question, then 'Yes, it is something that I want'.

I want other things too, like waypoints (stopovers) to name but one. We will see what develops but I for one will stick with Navman because I want to be a part of them becoming a better product, which I'm sure they will be.

Do you know if Navman are aware of the database issues in SmartSTv2 (not dissimilar to TTN3) and if so are they planning to do something about it?

I'm sure with the db made more accurate and error free, custom POI's and waypoints it will be a product to match TTN.
