I wonder if you'd like to consider Monitron:67491@30? (changed in its latest reincarnation from a Gatso) which has been a camera site since the wheel was invented - category "Income Generator". It's almost at the bottom of a steep hill on the A4, Saltford, between Bristol and Bath. When I was in that business 20 years ago, this was the highest earning camera in the whole of the then County of Avon and the A4 was the busiest road in the county (excluding motorways). Now that it's digital I suspect it is an even better earner with not needing replacement films. It has received "attention" several times and every time it is replaced - latest being atop a lovely high pole.
SCP website details. The photo (before morphing into a digital Monitron) doesn't give the best impression of the hill and the accident statistics don't seem particularly high for the busiest road in the county over a 1Km site. I dunno how they figure the commissioning date as March 2001 - I'm sure I paid the bill for the first installation a very long time before that (and anyway, I retired in 1996!).

Another one that springs to mind is Eastbound on the A303. I 'think' it's GATSO:10946@60. It's on an uphill stretch of road where there is a short acceleration/overtaking lane on the Eastbound carriageway only.

So you troll along the A303 stuck behind caravans etc and come to this short dualled stretch. Hit the gas and 2/3rds of the way up the hill is a GATSO.

No other reason than income, it's a cutting, the road is straight and its there for no other reason than to catch you as you grab your chance to get past some slow traffic before it returns to single carriageway.

Would that be "Eastbound" as in "Leftwards as you look at the map the right way up"? Twisted Evil

Aaaaah. A Monitron then, not a Gatso? You might like to submit a change if that's the case, on the submission page HERE It could win you a free lifetime mebership. Laughing

Am I local enough - 5 minutes? Twisted Evil I'll try to pop over there in the morning, see if I can find anywhere to park.
