SD cards backing up maps

Hi all

Having brought a number of o/s maps on cards I thought it would be good to back them up. What limitations are there on backing up. I understand you can back up to a PC but only copy back to the original card. Is that correct and can anyone explain the best way to back up.

You can backup the map and your route/track/trail data up onto other media so that it can be copied back to your SD card should it become corrupted, but your A10 will only use the map data if the SD ID data matches the encrypted ID data within the map file. ie the map data is only any use on its original SD card.

If this card becomes unuseable, you would have to send it back to Satmap for a replacement as the encrypted ID data would be different for a new card.

I'd backup using a USB SDHC card reader to computer hard drive and then burn a safety copy to DVD-R...
