I assume you have got a GPS fix when looking at the traffic?
I can see at the moment from within the M25 as far North as Newark, as far West as Bristol, everything East and South of me in the UK along with two incidents in Northern France, although I am only seeing the contraflow on the A16 near Wimereaux and not the delays showing on the web route planner. _________________ Drivelux |

I believe the circle round the position marker shows they have full signal. |

Yes, when the snap was taken, but the traffic could have downloaded before the GPS fix and not updated since, although that would usually do so in a few minutes. _________________ Drivelux |

In my experience, It's always shown details in France from Dover. The first time I had my 740, it was showing some French traffic details whilst waiting for the ferry. However, I had the impression that it was showing fixed details ie lane/road closures rather than live traffic. Also, 90% of my trips are at night so I wouldn't expect traffic problems in the Calais/Arras region.
As I posted at the time, I also tried out the petrol prices on my return to Dover, and the majority were in France! _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

One way to cure the issue would be to move to France. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

I remember seeing posts somewhere about mobiles in Dover picking up the French signal and so you were effectively "roaming" in France while in England.
Would it be possible that the 940 is locking to the French signal? Is there any way to tell which network it is connected to? I could see this being possible in Dover but not really in central London though. _________________ Gerry

From my personal experience the French signal is usaeable on the UK shoreline but out of visible sight of France it drops right off. For some reason the UK signals cannot be reached in France (only personal experience).
From communications I have had with TomTom over the past days the roaming is not in place yet for the existing SIMs and references to purchasing "UK+Abroad" have been dissapearing from Home and the web site to "UK" only again. _________________ Drivelux |

I left the TomTom on for about 15 minutes last night before taking these captures:
It had satellite lock (I've obscured the position!):
I'd seen several "Traffic Info Updated" messages:
And it was displaying traffic delays not just roadworks:
Maybe I should just move to France |

In my experience no. FWIW I purchased an annual HD account last night, since as far as I can tell the TT website says if you buy an account now, ie not renew an existing, you will get French etc coverage. Also the order acknowelgement stated i had purchased LIVE Services UK + abroad - 12 months '. First thing Monday i'm going to demand my money back, and put it in dispute with my credit card company, should be intersting.
ps the sim was shown as connected in France, but the usual message came up that it only works in country of purchase.
pps the contraflow on the A16 is there. _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

It does not actually say anywhere that you will get the Live Services now. It says renew now and you will get the Live Services aborad but it does not say you will get them now. I thought you would but you will get them by the end of the year. It should have been made clearer and if you look in Home there is no mention of abroad. Like you I have the Live + Abroad package but the abroad is not yet available. _________________ Drivelux |

I accept that, but I would have thought it a reasonable assumption to expect to receive what you pay for, except where it clearly states either within the sales promotion text or at time of ordering that there will be a delay. TomTom does neither with regard to 'new' subscriptions. _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155
